Now we can't make the play-offs he might at least get a spot on the bench but if we've signed him thinking he might be good enough for the first team it'd make sense to play him at least once before he's a free agent again, otherwise why did we bother signing him just to watch him train.

Was a punt that probably cost very little. He's got decent pedigree but not here so I think it was good business to have a look see. He's been with us now for about two months so obviously not pulled up any trees otherwise I think we might have had a glimpse of him. Sounds about 40/60 that we ever will now.
Most trialists don't work out but I'd rather we keep having a look at them. Look at Pritchard. Fuller was once a unknown trialist as well.

Yes. Much better to try him out than miss out on the next unexpected hit like Morisson, Austin etc. He certainly SOUNDED like a destroyer (traditionally limited players) who could play a bit and these are rare. So you can see the thinking. If it didn't work out then never mind. Only so many trips to Moldova a scout can make anyway, probably cheaper to pay his wages!

A good pre season, few friendlies and take his time to break the guy into the English game.
