The key is not to conflate protests and criticism and a degree of abuse with criminal acts. Make separation (as indeed CARD has been keen to do throughout the campaign). If you're in a high profile position, and have worked the way Katrien has done, then the protests are more or less to be expected. I believe Roland has a duty of care here, is he exercising it? If the solution is seen as 'you protesters and the like, can't you just stop?', and we say, 'oh all right then', it isn't going to happen.
