  • It's driving me mad listening to these people talking about how this is an uprising against the lack of opportunity and poverty!
There are people in the world who have real poverty, who have a choice of drinking dirty diseased water or not having a drink at all, who are fortunate to have meal a week and own a piece of clothing.
These thugs running round fully clothed, with mobiles, homes to go to and food to eat are just driven by greed.
It's inexcusable, mindless greed driven vandalism and theft.

Sky news - all explained by man on the street - it's the vat rise
Ha ha, yeah - just saw that.

To be fair, he didn't come across too bad, but my oh my.

If the Council Tax goes up next year to pay for all this shit then I reserve the right to break into Marks & Sparks and nick myself a dressing gown and a nice pair of comfy slippers.

So true, its stupid when they blame it on stuff like youth centres closing as well.
If these people dont respect others, this is clearly a bigger buzz than any youth centre can give.

Dont understand how people can care so little about others though..

Best post in a while on this whole subject and streets above a lot of the crap spouted on here. The only winners in this sorry affair are the extremists on either side who will twist this to their own agenda.

Something happened earlier in Welling, saw around 10 people stopped, boys and men getting talked to by the police and then I get stopoed for wearing an orange top because the guy was wearing a pink top who they was looking for. They search me, but didn't tell me what happened. Also saw a big group of youths with there hoods up but doubt they done anything.
    Fashion Police??
It was a hoody what my ex chose, understandable ;) But nothing much probably did happen but they was looking for a guy in a pink top who had done something.

29 year old man arrested for the Croydon furniture store arson.

If he gets proven guilty then I think it's only fair that the family are allowed 10 minutes or so with him to try to, ahem,  understand why he did it and perhaps explain to him the error of his ways.

I think they mean they've got no more youth centres to smash up!   So they've moved on

Or he's 21 years old if you listen to the Beeb. So, that's clear then!

Just reported that they've made an arrest in relation to the burning of that furniture building in Croydon. A 21 year old man is being held for arson with intent to endanger lives.

Very true, I just got back from kenya doing volunteer work and if they the mob or whatver you want to call them, could see poverty not just on the telly where you dont get a real insight. They wouldnt believe it. They dont have any opportunity for themselves and there families.

Eltham MP saying that a group who marched to Eltham from Lewisham after drinking all day ended up wasting a large amount of police resources as police worried about them committing a public order offence.

Apparently they call themselves the English Defence League.

the millwall/charlton fans in eltham news is getting a lot of attention on other teams forums. they seem to love it.

Eltham MP not happy with the EDL turning up and is moaning that they are tying up Police resources. surely the Police are there regardless of whether the EDL turn up??...would he be as angry if Eltham was burning to the ground tonight?

I dont support the EDL but he should be pleased that only a few pissed geezers has been the worst of the police worries tonight.

I think the point he was making was that if there was trouble elsewhere, resources were wasted following them around.

Good God that is funny and heartwarming in equal measure. Just piling round Brum in a motor trying to help the gavvers nick people. Those Sikh boys don't f*** around either - played football with a few of them when I was younger - they can handle themselves. Plus, of course, there's the footage of the geezer in Southall earlier with a four foot f***ing sword in his hands. Love 'em to bits

He's been brilliant all night, at a few moments of his speaking I felt genuinely proud and wanted to go out and protect the streets. Sadly,  I live in Rye in East Sussex.

I was thinking the same thing. If he didn't go to an add break he'd pass out.
