    This just about sums it up:

    Many shopkeepers feel they have been abandoned to their fate. I've just
    got off the phone to Peter Cowgill, the executive chairman of JD Sports,
    which has been one of the worst hit companies, said: “I feel like being
    physically sick. The way it has gone viral is so depressing.


    He estimates that up to 30 of his stores have been damaged, some seriously
    so, and that the financial impact for his chain alone is “a substantial
    multi-million pound bill”, probably in excess of £10m.


    He expressed frustration that not only had looters had the temerity to try
    on shoes before stealing them, they had also calmly queued up at tills to
    take off the security tags, before popping them into JD Sports carrier bags.


    “It just shows a high level of confidence that fundamentally you are not
    going to get apprehended."


    But will there be enough cells to hold them?

    The Enfield incident allegedly stems from rumours of a local gang going to petrol bomb a pub, but the pub was prepared with about 50 - 100 peole waiting inside. When they arrived on their bikes they were confronted and chased off. It is claimed that 2 petrol bombs were seized and some of the gang were arrested. This group were helping the Police it would appear and were not looking for a 'tear up'.

    a load of people came up eltham hill about 20 minutes ago. not sure who they are though.

    by who? I believe the fella who said he's there and nothing going on - at least at the top of the highstreet anyway.

    Well, Im getting my information from the Police who are in turn telling my lot whats happening, so believe what you wish.

    I won't tell you then that Eltham now has trouble and the Police are closing roads due to an "Incient".

    Cafckev is fire service and will be getting information supplied by police. I'd some one came out of bezleyheath cinema they would not know if something was occuring at the other end of the Broadway

    Massive exageration. In laws live in full view of the Yorkshire Grey and say there are a couple of police cars circling the area.

    My informant is currently working in the Yorkshire Grey, he said 1500 which is obviously a massive exaggeration, but I'm not buying that nothing is going on

    The Police!
    The car I went to the cinema in was parked down by Bar Ohm and I just walked down the pedestrian area and there were a few groups hanging around, with equal amounts of police. Does not seem anymore threatening than a normal weekend night in Bexleyheath. The JD Sports was intact as were all the pubs. Not sure if these people were looters as not many faces covered up.
