quite right, and that Red Red Robin thing reminds me of days of huge crowds, ban it... and that Tunnel Jump has lost all meaning since SCP left, and don't get me started on that Valley Floyd Road.....Off_it said:
To be honest, the "Feeeeesh" on the screen lost its appeal for me after Mark Fish stopped playing for us and we got relegated from the Premier League.BalladMan said:
It wont’t be used for 1 singular image. It will be dual / triple use (footage / teams / adverts?).TootingRedArmy said:
Not impressed !
I have no idea what TV format this is, its not wide screen 16 x 9 or a recognisable Cinema screen?
Why isn't it higher, it should be twice the height & filling in the corner of ES & JS stands?
How can you format TV footage into this screen?
only one happy probb is feeeesh as he has longer swim?Examples in this thread from the women’s gameApart from the fish of course. That will be full screen, hi-def (am I the only one looking forward to this bit today on the new screen?).
Since then - for me anyway - it's just a sad reminder of how things used to be. A few die hards shouting it in a 7000 crowd at home on a Tuesday night just never compared.
Apologies if that offends.
@gringo was going feeeshing for a bite
It's very awkward to explain to visitors at the Valley that a handful of ppl shout Feeeesssh because we used to have a player called Mark Fish 20 years ago. It’s part of our history and in a world where all the football chants are the same, I am pleased we have something unique.Loved it as kid, my kids love it. It’s part of the experience.6 -
To be fair, would rather we didn’t sing Valley Floyd Road if it is to be sung at the pace it is these days.gringo said:

Yes seen how footage is centre of screen, text on sides.....BalladMan said:

a missed opportunity to have a large screen twice the height IMHO
There is enough space and it could have filled that corner between ES + JS
which would have create a feel of two stands being joined.
As it is, it now looks a right mess underneath the screen and above with white shed behind
whoever was in charge on this, didn't do their homework as these massive screen are available.
I can't imagine its too easy to read the players names too from upper covered end also.
Maybe if we owned the Valley rather than rent then we could bring our stadium into C21st
& would have invested in a decent big screen, the new one looks cheap.2 -
as long as we have a better screen than the Premier Leagues reigning champions, I'm happy with it0

You're nothing special. I just had to dodge 4 RPGs and a platoon of phone-snatchers on my short walk to the 202 bus stop #typicallondonOff_it said:I can't wait to get down there tomorrow so I can get my first view and vent my spleen at the disgusting disgrace of a new screen.
I'm packing the rocket launcher and dogshit projectiles so I can properly make my statement. Gonna post it online immediately for maximum "likes" to fulfill my life and justify my existence.3 -
Screen looks the nuts (ignore my crap one camera) it’s very clear….they are obviously running tests on it at the moment (yes the fish is still there)
wonder if they’ve been tipped off about the team 🤔3 -
Guess we'll find out in an hour or so but I hope it's random as that would mean no JonesElthamaddick said:

Looks like the portaloo has been covered up!
Amazing how different things look when you wait for them to be finished, rather than throwing your toys out the pram halfway through.15 -
(And Mr & Mrs Surname from Hillsborough must be so proud that all their boys have made it into the local first team at the same time - a proud moment!)5

Fish is the nuts!0

Yep it looks much better now the screen has a bit of an integrated fitting with the black base underneath it. Feels like it’s part of the ground rather than being propped up on a couple of poles. All looks good on the screen testing too.1

Well I'm obviously biased, but I do think that looks a lot better.Elthamaddick said:

not bad but the grass slope at the back still needs attention:)

Probably wrong but wondering if that’s the team that finished Blackburn (last home game)fenaddick said:

Sorry if I've missed it but what's happening about the new LED advertising that's meant to be going up all around the stadium?
FWIW I think the new screen looks good!2 -
Think that’s next on the list. My guess is they’ll go in next international breakkidbrookeaddick said:Sorry if I've missed it but what's happening about the new LED advertising that's meant to be going up all around the stadium?

Boarded out the base too, but people were having such fun having a complete meltdown about it, I'm.sure they'll take the credit for it being 'finished' now though.. even though it would have been the plan all alongElthamaddick said:

I thought it looked good much better than the old one2
-
Scoreboard looks good, but you can't be cropping 4:3 90s TV footage to fit the super wide screen. Hopefully they will end up playing those videos in the centre of the screen.2
-
Got the timings all wrong at the start. The screen itself is fine, it's a screen, it's gives the line ups and the score and the time. Job done0
-
Your point was proven with the old footage they showed today.TootingRedArmy said:

The team line ups were clear enough - an improvement I'd say - but if you're going to splash out, why not make it perfect?0 -
It’s looked good, but someone on a wannabe controversial twitter account says it isn’t so that’s what matters6
-
Had a proper walk round the pitch before kick off being shown all the improvements to the stadium. This is well into 7 figures that’s gone out the last few months on pitch, stadium infrastructure, screens, lights, hospitality areas. And LED mid tier strips on their way too.Such a positive outlook - let’s enjoy this because as we all know good owners are never guaranteed in this sport25 -
So what was all the fuss about? What was this "Twitter storm" all about?
Screen looked fine. Good in fact. Would be good to hear what those who were crying about it actually think of it now. I assume that there are large slices of humble pie being eaten tonight, or at least there should be (although in practice people don't like to admit when they're proven completely wrong!)2
