Screen looked fine. Good in fact. Would be good to hear what those who were crying about it actually think of it now. I assume that there are large slices of humble pie being eaten tonight, or at least there should be (although in practice people don't like to admit when they're proven completely wrong!)1 -
Premature evaluation

Like the covering that’s been placed below the screen but because it can’t cover / block the stairs, the covering accentuates the fact that it’s “off centre” between the two stands…4
-
Replays look good and I like the teams on either side but the graphic looks a bit like it’s been designed by a kid who’s just discovered PowerPoint.1
-
I would say the opposite, the font looked clear to me even without my glasses on but the replays need reformatting as you couldnt see the first goal go in as it was off the top of the screen. Like watching a TV on the wrong zoom setting.
otherwise looked better than expected .2 -
I didn’t wanna comment on this cos, it’s a screen and kind of who cares
but I’m also a pedant (and OCD) and it really annoyed me because it just looks like it hasn’t been done properly / professionally:
Should be wider to fill that weird gap to the east stand, and 2m higher. That just looks odd and like they’ve paid some dodgy builders cash to come down and do it and they’ve just stuck it up and then cos you haven’t got a proper contract you can’t moan at them and go hang in, it should be in the middle? It is actually not properly fit for purpose - when the replays of the goals were scored, the screen is not tall enough to capture the shot so provides cut off footage which is kind of pathetic. There could be future scenarios where they actually want to use the screen to screen matches, or other events at the ground… and it’s not really up to that - but for no reason.. it could easily be!
as I say, it’s a screen and who cares, the inadequacy of the previous one wasn’t even on my mind… but also, if they’ve forked out such a substantial sum for it, surely do it properly and get the proper advice, drawings , whatever… from my spot in NWQ I didn’t really think it was a major improvement

All the nonsense spoke about it .. fact is when you see it it’s excellent .. very good graphics much easier to see and read …. Well

You don’t think it’s fit for purpose?
You’re probably right - they just got some cowboy with no experience to put it in.2 -
From where I was sat (West Upper) the screen looked bang in the middle. So was fine for me.0

DamoNorthStand said:Had a proper walk round the pitch before kick off being shown all the improvements to the stadium. This is well into 7 figures that’s gone out the last few months on pitch, stadium infrastructure, screens, lights, hospitality areas. And LED mid tier strips on their way too.Such a positive outlook - let’s enjoy this because as we all know good owners are never guaranteed in this sport
Fingers crossed.

It's fine, as I say I don't care, and the screen clarity is clearly way better than previous one - just think for something brand new high investment etc you kind of expect it to be literally perfect0 -

Perhaps somebody can bring a tape measure with them for the next home game.

Since the new screen has been installed we've never lost.14

The New screen was an improvement on the old one, but could it have been better?
Yes... the new long rectangular shape simply doesn't work with old footage, every clip edited into Mark Kinsella's VT montage played just before KO, would have had to be scanned to fit, some shots didn't work. The plus points were the graphics were better & the type captions were a good size for 1/2 way along the pitch, hopefully readable from top of the covered end.
However a bigger screen, formatted closer to standard TV's 16x 9 format, which are used in other stadium, would have been better surely?
I wonder if anyone at the club, did a photoshop mock-up of various screens to visual what it would look like? Surely with some imagination, a bigger 16x9 Screen, with panels around could have joined the ES & WS corner?
Both the JS new screen and white carbuncle police operation box are ill considered.
Whilst Roland is our landlord were sort of stuck from sorting out the JS end !
However its a shame that our new TV screen is too wide and not 16 x9 standard format and looks plonked into no mans land between ES + JS with a funeral black box under it......rather than well designed & 16 x9 screen with red panels to join ES & JS stands....

Looks like the reason the screen can't get much higher is that from the Covered Upper the side part of the JSS roof would then block off any extra added height to the screen assuming the plan is for an unobstructed view of the screen all around the ground. And that's probably why there's still a fair gap between the screen and the Curbs stand to keep the viewing ratio. The gap is much bigger than my view in the Covered Upper shows and from the West where it almost shows no gap. Maybe some more of that filler to the left to close that gap would then make it all look like the corner has been filled in?

Its a darn sight better than the old one, you could see the replays, theyve hid the portapotty, and so its fit for purpose. Im sure they will tinker with the layout to improve it, I think any other complaints is just nit picking now.8

Who's got the remote?1

The new screen is fine.
Clear, good contrast and good brightness.
Slightly odd aspect ratio but does the job.0 -
I really moaned about it when initial pictures were released but after seeing it yesterday it looks really good.2

That "suggestion" would pretty much cover the whole of the Jimmy Seed. I would suggest our budget wouldn't stretch that far. Also, it would ruin the view for the away fans.3 -
The replays and intro are slightly dodgy because it feels cut off at the top but the lineup the scoreboard and just overall graphics are a much better quality. Hated it on first glance but big fan in person2
-
I emailed some comments to the club after the screen was used for last Sunday's womens game.
Changes were made yesterday which took some of these on board.
I'm sure there will be further tweaks and adjustments.2 -
It was definitely better than I thought it would be but the old clips didn’t look good because of the aspect ratio.1
-
There was definite room to have had a slightly bigger 16 x9 screen, space upwards to meet underside of the JS roof & area beneath the screen where club crest is.
A new TV screen was needed but looks like club outsourced it to a cowboy builder rather than sit down with a designer: architect who could have designed this space with a 16 x9 screen and joined the ES & JS?
Seems a missed opportunity and whoever edits the archive clips will be reframing all old 4x3 footage forever in this play in the new oblong widescreen....
Its where were at with Roland as landlord, the club will look for cheap options!7
