Big Screen /scoreboard

Well that's rubbish, what are people going to moan about for seven pages until next game?BalladMan said:They increased the font size for the player names and numbers for tonight’s games. Even made a change after the game had started to make smaller font (long names) bigger by reducing player name (r.Costello), so they are listening and reading.6 -
A few seasons ago I got the club to use upper and lower case letters for the player names. Easier to read as proved by motorway signs and bus destination displays.golfaddick said:
Yes, the Font size & layout are meant for the big screen that is being installed in Sept/Oct. The new stuff is being designed & installed by the new Company based in Preston. They operate other clubs tech stuff too.chilham said:I was expecting to find a thread about the change of Big Screen/scoreboard design - perhaps I am alone in thinking that the new design is 'challenging' to read from a distance with the changes in colour, size and layout? I was struggling to read the players' names and the time from the Upper West on Saturday, though I gather from other sources that the present design is temporary?
From the clip put out by the club last week the screen is going to completely fill the gap between the AC & JS stands.
Unfortunately they reverted to capitals. The current designers don't undertand the importance of letter shapes.4 -
You may jest but the screen at Carrow Road rotates.CoveredEndAndy said:
It will be on a swinging arm like my TV in my bedroom.EugenesAxe said:
But what about the steps down the side of the JS?sam3110 said:
If it is indeed from one stand to the other, it might be as much as 5 or 6 times the area of the current screen, depending on the height of it
The screen sits in the corner between the Barclay Stand behind the goal (right of screen if watching on TV) and the South Stand (TV gantry side) i.e. in front of the Holiday Inn; when they show replays the screen is in the normal position so that the majority of the ground can see it and then the screen rotates so that the Barclay and the Thorpe Corner can see it and they replay the replay before swinging the screen back to its normal position.1 -
Which is great.BalladMan said:They increased the font size for the player names and numbers for tonight’s games. Even made a change after the game had started to make smaller font (long names) bigger by reducing player name (r.Costello), so they are listening and reading.
But why are they unable to think for themselves?1 -
Yes, 38 instead of 39.Alwaysneil said:Got Rylah's player number wrong for 40 mins thouvb

Probably their other job to serving food and drink on a Saturday.

If they use upper and lower case letters long names would take up less spaceCovered End said:

Why all the complaints?
It’s already been explained earlier in the thread.
The new screen will be massively bigger than the existing one……plus the graphics are still being worked on and will obviously pair up with the size of the new screen, as and when.
The current set up is temporary.6 -

So in future we can expect to see clear messaging saying ‘Turn Right on Harvey Garden’s - Floyd Road closed to home supporters’ 😉😆clive said:
I only partly jest. The club may well say we can get comms better in future utilising this new technology.3 -
I noticed that the screen went missing for quite a long period in the second half of the Leicester match. I suspect what happened was that when Leicester brought on Silko Thomas someone suddenly realised that they had Luke Thomas already on the pitch and that just Thomas and Thomas on the scoreboard wasn't good enough. I guess someone behind the scenes was hurriedly updating the names. Bit more attention needed up front.0

We were promised it would be up earlier than this.
I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully at the women's match, my fears will be allayed0 -
No we weren't, it was clear it would be after the October international break, and the floodlights in the September breakbolloxbolder said:We were promised it would be up earlier than this.

To be fair the statement explicitly says they hoped it would be ready for this weekendRothko said:

Quite happy to communicate good news but when it comes to stuff like the Millwall issues it's radio silence.9

From the club’s social channels..2 -
Quite ironic they shared a picture of that staircase1

Awful mockups, but here's what to expect

Interested to see what the flashing advertising boards will look like especially between the levels in the west (if I read it correctly)0

32:9 but with approx the same sqm of the old one is not going to improve the match day experience for much of our supporters. Let’s hope it is a truly poor render otherwise I can see complaints after the Shepherds Wednesday game…2

Who gets the remote?3

I’m sure it was said that the big screen would be curved, appreciate it’s a mock up but think we’ll see a lot more height on it with it having a curved shape to it.0

Rumbelows special I've heard, and that remote has a cable attached that runs to the back.

So, basically, the screen will be big enough to fill the gap in the corner so the rest of the ground wont be able to see their fellow fans getting attacked behind it.
See, they are listening.9 -
That’s a serious bit of cash being spent on the ground.. can’t fault the intentions of the owners at all hereHardyAddick said:New screen and stadium upgrade details here
