Seems a sensible signing. Bit of versatility, adds a more specialist, orthodox, right wing back, knows NJ, and has championship experience. A short term loan probably isn’t absolutely ideal, but may well be with an eye on doing a cut price permanent deal if his contract is up in 2026.
Welcome Jimmy Cheese, I hope you’re a huge success.
I wonder if it’s so late because he was the championship player who was having an issue with hair transplants? That’s definitely more than he had when he signed for Southampton.
Well done again Friedman, Brener and Co. 👏 The money you have spent on players this summer hasn’t been seen for many years . You have certainly done more than your bit to give the Championship a real crack.
Agree with this. The last 2 results have put a bit of a downer on the buzz the incomings have brought, but I’m really hoping we get behind everyone of them now and give them our full support
some of them might not be able to make the step up, as we’ve backed a lot of top end league one players with Championship potential, but our budgets dictate what we could’ve realistically gotten in, and I think we’ve got the best catches for the River we were fishing in.
A 2 week break to give those that aren’t on intl duty more time to gel. Onwards and upwards
I think that trying to reduce it down him taking Apter's place or changing his position is oversimplification. More probably whichever one gets the nod will vary from game to game and depend on the plan.
If we are expecting to be under a lot of pressure, Bree starts then Apter can come off the bench to go at tired defences. If we are looking to put a stamp early doors, Apter starts with Bree coming on to defend the lead.
It's a squad game, both are good players both are in Jones plan, both will get plenty of playing time.
Exactly this, there is no way you can expect a young player like Apter to play 46 games straight at RWB. Bree coming in gives us a chance to rest him at times, and then see where we are in January as the market opens up, and potentially Assimwe has improved enough to replace him.

I do hope that Jones doesn't start thinking about tinkering with the system too much.
That was one of the biggest issues of our campaign last October / November where he started messing around, trying to find something different to solve the issue, whilst also dealing with injuries at the time. It only got fixed when we effectively went back to the system we started the season with, albeit Godden in for Ahadme and Small over at RWB
Has he ever played Lb or LWB out of interest? Wondering whether he is also seen as an option there were Edwards to get a long term injury
It’s mentioned in Cawley’s article, he’s played LB a few times and RCB in a back three, where he had some good games in the PL. So he also gives us another alternative to Ramsay.
Has Apter ever played wing back for us? For me he plays as a right winger and as high up as possible.
The opposition winger is picked up by Ramsay with usually Edwards making it a back four. It is of course a bit more complicated than that as the two central midfielders have deeper defensive roles, making it a back four or even five protecting the goal centrally in front of Jones, pushing the other two of the three wider. Campbell, Apter and the striker close down the ball to win it back or slow things down.
Bree gives Jones some real flexibility in tactics both before and during games. If a side has an outstanding left winger we need a proper right back.
He is also a very good player with over 200 games played at this level and 17 in the Prem. Cracking signing. I hope we have the option of a permanent signing.

Apter described his role as RWB in an interview. I think with Cawley.
It's certainly not a traditional RWB but it is a version of that role
