    FIFA limit loans across borders to six in, six out.

    Chelsea already have four on loan at Strasbourg, plus two others at Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

    Fofana going to Celtic would make that seven.

    I was wrong - I had assumed Chilwell to Strasbourg was a loan but apparently it’s a permanent. Would leave one more open spot for them to loan a player out internationally.

    They made a loan approach for Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana but he has turned them down and agreed a deal with Charlton – although they may be struggling to complete that in time.

    Listening to the Guardian football weekly, their net spend though was in the £200 m's as they recouped through sales and if taken over 2 seasons its around £100m's per season, so not quite as high

    Just a hunch but I wonder if there were so many deals sent at the last seconds that they didn’t all go through and they have to decide on an individual basis as to whether they were sent on time.

    Chelsea have only just announced Jackson to Bayern so could be that they have some stuff to get through still or they were too busy getting that over the line to worry about Fofana's move.
