I don’t go to early round cup games any more - they are reserve games - I only want to go to a fixture where both clubs are putting everything they have into winning the game - I watched it on sky but wouldn’t have gone anyway if it wasn’t on - I made that decision about 6 years ago and am sticking with it - later rounds when we are trying everything to win it, I’ll be there.
I went last night as I thought it would be a good opportunity to see a load of our new first team signings play. I was right, and I also got to see some of the exciting prospects live for the first time too - Fullah etc
It's a shit experience compared to a league game, and we've performed too poorly in the early rounds now for too long to convince people like yourself to come back. Not sure what the club can do or if that's just how it will be now.

Live on the East coast of Kent (60 miles ish) am S/T holder and Valley Expess S/T holder so attand all of the home games. When in Orpington I used to go to cup games but live too far now - BUT if the club offered Valley Express for cup games then would definitely consider going.

That's how it will be - i've attended lots of reserve games and youth games down the years and most early round cup games but i'm not as interested / committed as i used to be - been there, done it and by my age you may well feel the same, maybe not. I don't like the way the cups have gone. I don't blame the club, i blame the people who run football and have done away with reserve leagues and allow premier league teams to play their u21's against lower tier club's first teams - its a piss take and a watered down football match. I don't like playing or watching sport unless you are breaking your neck to win - take the true competitive edge out of sport and its boring and that's the main reason i won't put the effort in to go - its boring.

40,000 willing to trek to Wembley but cant attract 25,000 for season opener......plastics lol
All jokes aside, it’s this narrow, ‘apples and pears comparison’ thinking that is probably at the root of not understanding what the problem is.
The ticket to Wembley is always going to comparatively more popular. The Play Off Final in a stadium that offers a more than adequate number of catering outlets and other facilities, comfortable seats (not that we used them), plenty of leg room and most likely a whole raft of other stuff and is the football equivalent of offering people and families a day out in Disney World compared to the local common fairground ride that the Valley offers it’s paying customers. The Valley may be a 27k capacity ground but its facilities and catering probably are more suitable for the 4k numbers we had last night. Wembley tickets cost more but value for money is streets ahead. The Valley’s only real attraction is the team. If we are not playing a box office match and expected to win (& we don’t have a great record in this cup, or any cup competition tbf) then the appeal of paying a premium price to go there will not be so great.

Nowhere to rest your beer (other drinks are available); a few shelves along the walls would not go amiss, the view is not as good as further away, the escalator and lift out of order after the game. All breeze block and steel. Really not a nice place to be.

Last night's game cost me a total of £10.00 to attend, over 65 price plus free travel on my 60+ Oyster card. Since i started work aged 16 i've had a season ticket so that i never have to miss a home game, although obviously have had to pay for cup games. For about the the last 40 years i've attended the vast majority of away games, but i would never prioritise an away trip instead of attending a home game. In fact Saturday [16/8/25] will be the 50th anniversary since i last missed a home game 16th August 1975, V Notts County.

Here’s the programme article - there was also one around the time of launch last year. Marilyn (Chair of the AB) will also be talking about it on tomorrow’s Charlton TV “Meet the Directors” programme. It’s early days and has made a positive and constructive start imo. But then I would say that! I do have one gripe that I was the only one who turned up wearing colours for the photo
To add that the AB did also raise the issue of the very poor overall catering experience after Saturday and as some have said on here already, Gavin Carter visited various bars around the ground last night. So the club is definitely on the case and seeing improvement as an urgent priority.

I have an enlarged prostate. Sitting on a hard plastic seat shuffling from buttock to buttock for a couple of hours is not much fun. Missed the goal on saturday cos i'd had enough. Didn't fancy it again for Stevenage. Sorry.

Without being too pedantic here, our is not a Fans Advisory Board - we are different from other clubs in that ours is a stakeholder board, including two representatives from CACT and one from the ex players association.

Yes I did. Not poor and much higher than Charlton eg Wrexham 10000, Boro 12000, Blackburn 10000, Bristol C 10000, Coventry 10000, Plymouth 11000 etc

Our attendance on Tuesday was the lowest by a Championship club bar Oxford v Colchester, lower than 6 L1/L2 clubs, and there were 13 ties in total that had more than double our attendance, which included a healthy away turn out.
It was a poor attendance in comparison to other clubs.
How do you determine the attendees were new or local?
We are a family club with I suspect a higher than average family weighting, so family attendance is more likely in the school holidays as opposed to turn time. But I’d be very surprised if those attending last night weren’t existing and already committed fans.

Laudable and I’m not criticising, but I don’t know how much could be gained from this. Understanding the issues experienced on a standard attendance Matchday with one where there is a tenth of attendance is a bit like investigating the Dartford Crossing congestion and observing on at 6am Sunday morning. If he wants to get a true feel, try a walk around the concourses at halftime at the Leicester game (good luck walking trying to walk through any concourse let alone get to the kiosks!)

I have always lived in quite easy reach of 'The Valley' so have no excuse not to attend home games although it was a bit more of a challenge to attend matches at Selhurst & Upton Park.
If you support the club you d want it to make money and to a lesser extent provide value.I think the ticket pricing is about right but the match day experience needs to improve. Bars,fanzone etc need to up their game big time and the Club might make a bit more money that way.As others have said bar staff seem under trained and disengaged
