So, should Charlton drop prices to increase attendances?

  • It's a great record Clive, very impressive, well done.

My own home run is approaching 44 years so I am a bit behind you (my current run - I had a 2 year run before my current run - started at the age of 13 so I'm hoping to keep it going for a while yet).

Saw mention of someone who had 1 missed game in 40-odd years but I imagine you have the longest run, brilliant job.

Clive's 50yr anniversary of not missing a home match since 16th August 1975, V Notts County....is mind boggling...I don't know you Clive but this is incredible loyalty, dedication and bonkers, you must have had missed some special occasions like weddings, holidays, birthdays to achieve this? please share more about this amazing achievement
& Is there another Addick who can match Clives unbroken run home, away or both, apart from Seb's?
Surely Clive deserves to come onto the pitch for the Leicester match to take a bow in front of the covered end?
In fact i gave up a short break in Malta, which i had already paid for, last season so not to miss the home game against Rotherham.
Anybody who knows me by now, knows that my main priority in life is attending Charlton games home & away & knows i will decline invitations which clash with Charlton games.

In my opinion it is more important to support the team in Home games, that's where the club gets most of it's income from.
Last night's game cost me a total of £10.00 to attend, over 65 price plus free travel on my 60+ Oyster card.
Since i started work aged 16 i've had a season ticket so that i never have to miss a home game, although obviously have had to pay for cup games.
For about the the last 40 years i've attended the vast majority of away games, but i would never prioritise an away trip instead of attending a home game.
In fact Saturday [16/8/25] will be the 50th anniversary since i last missed a home game 16th August 1975, V Notts County.

Wow @clive, that is an astonishing record. Bravo! Can I ask, do you have a cut-off for level of competition or does that include absolutely everything?
All 1st team matches including Friendlies/Testimonials & Members Cup & its various guises.

I have always lived in quite easy reach of 'The Valley' so have no excuse not to attend home games although it was a bit more of a challenge to attend matches at Selhurst & Upton Park.
Clive - its an incredible achievement 50yrs home run, do you know of any other ADDICKS who have matched this? regardless of living close by to the Valley, you must have had to duck out of a few social & family occassions & your health clearly hasn't stopped you?
I think you should take a bow before the covered end before Leicester match !

I don't know of anybody with a similar record but wouldn't be surprised if their is somebody who can match it.

CLIVE - I think your in the Golden ADDICKED HOME club on your own surely?

    50yrs Clive
    44yrs Charscot
we have some very loyal, dedicated super Addicted ADDICKS
I know we had super fans like Seb Lewis and of course Rick Everitt, but you two deserve a medal !
  • I read that with a rather painful sense of Groundhog Day. Unless anyone is interested I wont bother with the back-story of how this research was commissioned by the Guardian. Suffice to say that at the time, a lot of people were very impressed with it. But while it accurately depicted the feelings of the most committed fans at the time (as I'm sure the IPSOS one does, 32 years later) we totally failed to predict that these disillusioned fans would be replaced by more affluent fans who actually welcomed the all-seater environments that the clubs (not Charlton, TBF) made the fans pay for. Today I think many clubs have the same mindset, especially when they see how Championship attendances have increased since 2018.
