  • Isn't Jimi Famurwera the food critic who turns up on MasterChef a Charlton fan? I seem to remember someone mentioning it on here before

Yep, one of my pals. Bexleyheath boy.
  • One dissenting voice among the (48?) Masterchef contestants getting disproportionate coverage on BBC's decision to air the latest series.

Airing it in its usual prime time slot seems like a tone deaf "Eff You" and witless invitation for the anti BBC pile on to persist and intensify.
If the majority of contestants haven't objected then I would have thought that a heavily edited version might be made available on iPlayer and maybe broadcast the lattermost stages to allow the most talented and creative contestants the genuine opportunity for lifechanging exposure.
  • I see Gregg has been strting the grift.  He's on Tiktok promoting his new website and been interviewed by the red tops, and crying about his situation to try to get people to take pity on him.

I do wonder if there is a bit more to his misdemeanours and only the PG stuff has been put out there

He’s been interviewed by the military police ?… must be worse than we thought.
  • It came out in the Ozzie Osbourne documentary that he regularly walked into a room naked, he bit the heads from a dove and a bat, he smeared his own excrement around a hotel room, he tried to kill Sharon and yet - is a national treasure.  It's a funny old world.

(Not a defence of Wallace btw).

It would be grossly unfair on the finalists and winners if their efforts were denied network TV coverage

Well he certainly is a total spanner for trying to blame autism as the reason he has said and done stupid things.

A few of the points he made were valid and may have held some truth, I don't know, but he has limited self and social awareness and is in his own world.

  • Back on BBC One at 8pm this evening
  • He's done another video interview 🤣

It is enjoyable to witness how much of a plonker he is.

He just needs to realise it's time to take a back seat and go and count all his money, followed by a trip to his local gym at 5am and keep banging on the door until they open up early for the twat

He can then go to the Harvester for lunch before settling down for the afternoon to be an amateur historian.
  • Do the Harvester have a todger on the table section now?

I'd be more disappointed if the prince of darkness didn't do that. I see your point but at least Osbourne was behind and entire genre of music and culture whereas Gregg Wallace doesn't seem to have that going for him... Yet

So legitmate question do you genuinely think the BBC by showing a tv show worked on by hundreds, with numerous hardworking contestants and having spent tax payer money on filming said series (which is actually very popular with the general public) are actively supportive of the behaviour of mainly one person that they have already said they arent going to work with again in the future ? Really ?

This isnt like the WWE and Chris Benoit, Gregg Wallace has behaved innapproriately but as far as im aware hasnt even been spoken to by the police, Torode allegedley used a racist commment (which he denies and the director general wouldnt say what the comment was) 8 years ago. Its completely understandable they would show the serious and say we arent working again with these guys but its unfair on everyone else not to show the series already filmed.

As for the anti bbc brigade weaponising this, yes perhaps but what does that mean we should be wary of people being deliberately obtuse to support their own agenda/bias, no thanks. I'm not a big fan of the BBC in general but in this case theyve done little wrong in choosing to show. Also where do we draw the line with this deliberately obtuseness ? Can i refuse to send my kids in to school or demand schools be shut because far more serious documented criminal acts have been done by teachers ?

It makes absolutely no difference, it just highlights the double standards that are applied
  • Let’s be clear. You can’t go around doing what Wallace was accused of in 53 (?) separate allegations. Plenty of women experienced and witnessed his unacceptable and inappropriate behaviour. I’m happy to accept that they are not all if any lying. On that basis he should have been sacked and thank goodness was. That’s pretty much it. No excuses, no if or buts. Bye bye.

…….for me, it was the right thing to air a heavily-edited new series of MasterChef as it recognises the efforts of the hard working staff and excited contestants whilst taking out all of the controversial dialogue GW was made a living out of for 20 years. That said, I hope nobody affected by him over the years suffers any more through their decision. I assume they’ve all steered clear of his tv appearances since then so, hopefully, the fact that his race is now run is a comfort to them all.  Watching the clip of GW putting his side of the story forward was like rewatching the Prince Andrew interview. Complete car crash again. He’s either very, very autistic or totally deluded to think that any of his words, demeanour or attitude in that interview were anything other than damaging and lacking insight.
  • I was surprised at how much he was still in it tbh.
But thankfully the contestants were the stars & after a bit I hardly noticed him.
    Well done the editors 👏🏻👏🏻
  • I thought the BBC spends licence payers money, not tax payers money.

I don't think many will denying this and I'm certainly not defending him, I'm purely defending the position of the BBC to show a serious they have already filmed.

It's the same thing, TV licence is a tax and i can't be bothered to lower myself to argue with anybody that doesn't agree.
