    Concerning that Costello isn't there.

So far out of two of the signings whose injury concerns were highlighted (Costello & Burke) both don't look like they'll be ready for the first game of the season atm.

Feels a bit harsh Macca that he's lost his place to Bell seemingly, thought Macca would be a shoe in until his form dropped. I know it's only a friendly but that looks like our XI vs Watford for me
Yes I agree it’s harsh but Bell for me has been the pick of our new signings so far. His balls down the channels have been great TC should be thinking right I start my run the moment Bell looks up

Pre season injuries strike again. Good job we signed all those players otherwise we'd be playing the yoof !

Not wholly convinced by that frontline. Love TC and Kelman is obviously a great player but neither are big, strong, physical players or have the deceptive strength of Godden. Would have expected Leaburn (if fit) or Tanto to play one of those roles. Maybe one of them (most likely TC) gets replaced by Tanto next week but NJ didn’t want him starting two friendlies in a row
I think Jones might fancy pace and movement over brawn to see how that looks.

No he is good, and I felt it was inevitable he was either taking Edwards or Maccas slot at some point, but still, Wembley hero and all that, thought he would get the nod for a while.

That XI still looks a bit weak for me. Midfield needs a bit more, and not sure if Kelman and TC will work up top together, but we will see.

In Cawley’s latest article about Kelman, Dave Victor who reports on Orient was asked about Kelman’s other attributes that they hadn’t talked about and the first one he mentioned was his strength, the second was his burst of speed.

He’s not, but he’ll have good competition once JRC and Knibbs are available. He’s going to have to impress to keep his place.

My own thought is that TC will look great today against Southend, not so great against Watford. The Championship is a massive step up for him and I think jones will start the season with him but we will see Olafe take his place after a few games

So Southend Utd (Stern Test) that’s what you call it. (Hopefully we will prove just to strong) I would hope so as everyone well almost everyone been saying big gap between Div 1 and Championship.

We should not be play a non league side at this stage of pre season.

As for Nathan finding his best starting eleven it took him to mid December to find that last season.

No Leaburn and as Nathan has been saying some players will be leaving. Trust Leaburn is all okay but who knows , Nathan don’t like telling the fans too much .

Nothing less than a win today and no one injured today will do.

The midfield looks weak and so does the bench, mainly triallists and inexperienced youth teamers.
That’s the idea of Friendly/Training matches, get some minutes in the legs and take a look at the fringe players

NJ knows what he is doing, this is a kick around, not a meaningful match
If they are not fit enough to appear at all in the last pre-season game I doubt they will be playing next week.

I never mentioned who’s fit and who’s playing, today is a friendly the real business starts next week, what the team will be, who knows

I usually see that if I log on  before the stream starts. (I haven't logged on today yet though)

Dixon is waaayyyy down the pecking order now. He wasn't used last season when we needed an injection of pace so no way is he featuring now. Would expect him to go out on loan or even get sold.

I don't think the plan is for Dixon to be a regular in matchday first team squads for upcoming season.

No way is Dixon getting sold!, he's young and we need to be patient in his progress...

Was good enough last year to get the Peterborough game called off.

Yes I am still pissed off with that.

Just watching the video of Kelman's medical and introduction, and Tracey doing her bit, gone now I believe, and if not soon, but what an important cog in the wheel that is Charlton Athletic she has been...

Well, it's been a gruelling pre-season. Players are only human. They are not made of steel and concrete.
