Can’t see him learning from Godden when he’s failed to improve at Chelsea with all of that quality around him.fenaddick said:Maybe Burstow could learn off Godden but beyond that I can’t see him improving enough to be a useful addition, his goal return isn’t impressive and don’t think he would push Leaburn/Godden/Tanto/TC. If that was the calibre of striker we were to sign we’d be better off keeping Kanu around0 -

Must do wonders for a striker getting to watch Nicholas Jackson every day in training...CafcSCP said:

Where did Nathan get his Champions League experience from ?? Was that when he was managing Luton, Saints or Stoke ?TeeC said:
Charlton Athletic plans to sign Yann M'Vila from Caen for a minimal fee. Nathan Jones has Champions League experience.6 -
Champions League and Championship, they are foreign and get easily confused.golfaddick said:

We will get a solidarity/development fee, same as for Lookman who looks like he is off to Inter Milan for 40 million:Gisappointed said:Someone alluded to sell-ons sometimes going beyond the initial buying club. I wonder if we are due any money from Pope's move to Leeds?
Edit: we won't for Pope, my mistake, but would for Lookman who is looking likely to leave.

Hope we don’t sign M’Vila.I can only say it in a Stan Collymore accent and then follow it up with M’Babbies2
-
Good news on Lookman, but I think players have to move abroad so Pope wouldn’t count?Braziliance said:

Every time a 34+ year old gets linked with us they're automatically shit (Watson/Arter) in the eyes of many. We have had some very good experienced players at various times and I trust Jones a lot more than previous managers not to bring in a clown looking for an easy pay day.2

No ThanksWest2003 said:My arch nemesis has told me we’re looking to bring back Mason Burstow initially on loan with an option to buy.0 -
The last Yann, a Frenchman too, didn’t work out too bad.

With Pope, epends on the deal made when we sold him.Scoham said:

£1.2m from Lookman, even if not all in one go, is not to be sniffed at.0 -
A player not in his prime from a team relegated to the french third division no thanks0

When he was playing for Yeovil. You must have forgotten that epic season when they beat Ajax, only to lose narrowly to Juventus in the QFgolfaddick said:

These are solidarity payments rather than sell on clauses between clubs, believe it’s a FIFA rule.Henry Irving said:

Quality player. If it worked, we would have our very own Makelele for a pittance. Playing in that position, players can defy the passing years. cf Luka Modrić.Pelling1993 said:Every time a 34+ year old gets linked with us they're automatically shit (Watson/Arter) in the eyes of many. But even if our medical staff cleared him, he has a long history of falling out with management. Would Jones risk it?1 -
Yes, totally different but still possible that we get money from Pope deal.Scoham said:

Do solidarity payments happen if the transfer is within the same country, as Atalanta and Inter are?0
-
Well we’ve got two rumours. Burstow and M’Vila. Both so far away from what I’d expect us to be looking at. Don’t believe either.14

Agreed these are the sort of rubbish rumours we would get fed when we was struggling can't see it aswell.ShootersHillGuru said:Well we’ve got two rumours. Burstow and M’Vila. Both so far away from what I’d expect us to be looking at. Don’t believe either.0 -
I get the thinking behind a midfield veteran signing but not sure M'Villa is the right profile.1

I've just done some goggling and now I am not so sure.Desmond Oulu said:Do solidarity payments happen if the transfer is within the same country, as Atalanta and Inter are?
I was under the impression that it didn't matter if it was in the same league, as long as it wasn't the same original nation, but Google smart search says otherwise.
So we might need Lookman to go to Barca (as rumoured as well) instead, that's a shame if so.

I think Alou Diarra is the only signing I can remember of this kind that has worked out in recent memory. Pratley was still playing regularly when we signed him. Andrew Hughes maybe?sam3110 said:M'Vila could be an Arter or a Watson, but he could also be a Diarra or a Pratley0 -
1.2m Euro's Henry, still a nice just over £1mHenry Irving said:

Last post re: Lookman as I don't want to clog the thread, but I think we would still be entitled to a fee regardless if the move is still in the Italian league as it's an international fee?

Someone may know a lot more on here though and might be able to clear that up, it's quite conflicting online.0
