But there is a contractual obligation as our U21s play at Princes Park. It wouldn't matter what division Dartford are in...ForeverAddickted said:
We played Dartford last season, who were at the level Welling are at now.Sark99 said:
Welling United did get relegated, so the gap between Charlton and Welling is wider than it has been for a long time.Oh Eddie Youds... said:Surely a man with the connections of @Airman Brown could facilitate a Ramsgate v Charlton friendly.
That would be a perfect fixture in July / Aug.
The Rams are now in the same league as Welling so a similar level to what we usually play in the early stages of pre-season.
The larkfield coach could be the last pick up for this one too!
The opening pre-season games are looseners so the level of opposition should not be a concern.

Yes, League One team probably. Could be wide of the mark but doubt it will be Orient or Wycombe which leaves 1 local alternative

Anyone know when the players are back for pre-season training ? What with our season not finishing until late May & the new season not starting until the 2nd week of August I wondered if the players dont come back a week later than usual, seeing as the 1st PSF isn't until 12th July.0

Sure one of the players said 4/5 weeks after the finalgolfaddick said:Anyone know when the players are back for pre-season training ? Not necessarily, you need to employ staff in a way you don’t for private pitch hire and attendances will be low. Less than 4,000 attended the last onevalleynick66 said:

I was thinking Hibs awayRock Spectacle said:Yes, League One team probably. Could be wide of the mark but doubt it will be Orient or Wycombe which leaves 1 local alternative3 -
Plus some clubs will charge a fee. I think a friendly with Spurs did not take place because they wanted to charge a high fee a couple if seasons ago.fenaddick said:

Gof previous when we played Bolton in a pre season friendly back in 2015 when both clubs were relegated from the Championship at the end of that season0 -

And you have to pay full police costs so unlikely to make money unless it is a team with a big away following but they charge more.fenaddick said:

So we usually host a home fixture even though they are loss making. On that basis not sure why we bother and don’t just play away somewhere given the cost cutting has been very evident by a string of recent owners. But I take the point the corporate hires are easy income by comparison.0
-
I think we host them because fans like them (even if they don’t show up) and it must be good for new players to get used to the surroundings, possibly helps stadium staff get back into the swing of things a bit too. I think they’re nice overall but this season the quality of the pitch has to come firstvalleynick66 said:So we usually host a home fixture even though they are loss making. On that basis not sure why we bother and don’t just play away somewhere given the cost cutting has been very evident by a string of recent owners. But I take the point the corporate hires are easy income by comparison.2 -

In which case so be it and may be the likely future pattern.0 -
I think it’s more that the pitch didn’t have enough time to bed in last year due to the Portsmouth game so it needs fixingvalleynick66 said:

But if only that you’d forgoe the modest corporate hires income too.fenaddick said:

I think it's doubtful we'll play a PL team that weekend, as nearly all of them have their schedules planned well in advance. The only PL side i can see who don't currently have a game that weekend is Palace, so i guess a behind closed doors game v them could be a possibility.0
