I'm calling it now Mbick will bulk up a bit over summer, work with Godden and come back the beast he's been for our unders sides.
    I agree.

He still has a fair bit of growing to come I reckon. Hopefully he won't be unbalanced in any way because of it, but if he fills out any further he will have a very formidable stature.
Depending on who comes in I do think he would do well to have a credible loan. By that I actually mean no lower than league one.
Looks slow and less than impressive first touch tough.the size/power more useful in league one
I haven't seen a lot of him to really agree or disagree with you tbh........ but I still remember when he came on at Cambridge a high ball came over his shoulder, he brought it straight down and jiggled between a couple of defenders so there is some skill there....... he did look a bit slow in the end of season games but I'm wondering if it was down to slow anticipation & action rather than lack of pace?......... which will come with experience...... for us or perhaps out on loan...?
  • So the one unknown from this list is now resolved and we can move onwards quickly.
  • Though still no news on the academy players.
  • The list of released and retained players at EFL Clubs has been published following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

Good spot @clive, now who can be bothered to cross reference with the academy squads to see who has been released? Interesting that Hobden and Bower have been offered contracts but hadn't signed by the time the EFL put that together. Wonder if that's the delay in the club releasing the list?

Page 112 shows Huke and Toure have been released, plus Kedwell and the first team players we knew about.

Interesting we’re giving Hobden and Bower another year. Both steady reliable players at u21 level, but I doubt they’ll be knocking on the door for the first team. Wonder if we’ll loan either out if we can find full time clubs, it could be a good test for them. I remember hearing on one of the CAST events (I think?) they don’t like to loan to part time clubs as fitness levels can drop.

I’m wondering if they’ve been offered deals purely for us to get compensation as I think we only have to offer similar terms for that

Yeah I believe so, but that only makes sense for players like Small who are in the first team, or perhaps younger u21s who are very promising and attracting interest higher up, where you’ve not been able to get them signed up. I can’t see that being the case with Bower and Hobden.

Never know who is sniffing around U21 players just to fill a squad place though, Toby Stevenson springs to mind

No Sadler, Brown, Cann, Ogunnowo, Safa or Wales on the list.  All would be over 17 so I think could have contracts... All U18s but then so were Lol Soza and M'bick who are on the list.
I wonder if their absence means they have left.
Seems odd for the club not to announce it already.

All of those players are on the list as scholars, some on page 57 and some on page 58 (assuming you mean Cann and Safa)
  • On the Charlton home page 9 players listed for the U18, and 14 players for U21. so we will be moving a lot of youngsters up from U17 and U16 to the U18 team and maybe the U21. Or we are bringing a lot in from other clubs.

They never added the first years to the u18s squad page, though they did announce them last summer:

Next seasons u18s should be made up of this seasons 1st years (the list above) and whichever u16s signed scholarships.

Sorry to see Huke leave. I thought he was a clever player. Still, what do I know? My hot tip for a future star was Adigun. Maybe injuries/fitness issues was the decider?

In this case I think it’ll be that Fullah is younger and better prospect and plays in the same position.

    Had missed that, ta.

Plus, yes, those were the players... Autocorrect = fail!
