Won’t be the size of Wrexham’s or Birmingham’s budget, nor those clubs still benefitting from parachute payments, but sounds like we will be competitive.I am expecting/hoping that most of our signings will be Championship, overseas and Prem players now in their twilight…
JRS certainly didn’t rule out coming to us when I spoke to him and I think £5m + add ons including future %age of sales fee is the sort of deal we’ll be pursuing. Our cloth was cut for L1, to stay in the Champ you need to be investing £5-10m per annum to stay in it and not stand still.Excited for what develops over the summer. Transfer window phase 1 opens tomorrow!2 -

jose said:You can’t force contracted players to go out on loan.
It requires agreement and desire from two clubs and the player.
I remember Viggo Jacobsen (of Oostergaard fame) was at Charlton for a couple of seasons way out of the picture as a player but still getting a wage.
Such a thing is an option for Ahadme0 -
MarcusH26 said:Would expect TT to go for a nominal fee either to Northampton or someone in the promotion race in League 1. Alex Mitchell is the toughest one in the squad to call , I can see both sides of it but would expect him to stay ultimately as depth along with Zach.
TT - not good enough for Championship; nor is AMB, Ahadme, Mbick
Squad players to retain - Docherty, Macauley G, Leaburn, Anderson
Jurys still out….Kanu, Zach M, Dixon, Asimwe
Views all mine and probably much to argue with!0 -

At 5-10m there’s better value for us at this stage.1 -
I’m not surprised by the players that we’ve released. Chuks is only good for 20mins at most and has no mobility. Although Watson is a solid L1 player, I didn’t think he’s up to the championship. As for Thierry Small, read Joe Aribo. He’ll get a better offer from another club and will be offski, IMO1

CafcSCP said:It’s easy to knock the squad at the moment, but jump back a year and Coventry as an example was getting stick and how Dobson was a better player.
With a stronger midfield and rock solid defence we saw how good Coventry really was. His ceiling is way higher than Dobsons.
If we spend well then the quality should increase again and you’ll see the best of Coventry and Docherty.
A couple of tweaks at the back, and a true creative midfielder to carry us forward and link to the forwards will see less pressure on Docherty and Coventry.
Our best 11 currently is in the bottom quarter of this league.
Our current bench will see us relegated.
Docherty - squad player at best, but in my view he is not good enough for the Championship1 -

I might be the only one who sees the Chuks release as a bad move. He is Championship "game changer" level. One more year?5

There are some right miseries on here.
The season finished less than a week ago but already...........
Most of the squad are not "championship quality ".
If we don't sign at least 10 players we're getting relegated.
The owners are not going to spend any money.
Plus what other negativity people can think of.
I'm certain NJ and the recruitment team know exactly who and what we need and have already started the process.
I know it's all about opinions but we've just got promoted can we not celebrate for a little while before we start the doom and gloom.

He is a very strong attacker and scores goals. Class penalty taker too.
Zach Mitchell is pure class. Great at attacking from defence.11 -

Mbick not shown that the few times he’s played for us in league one . Let him go out on loan to a lower league one club or a league two club that will give him plenty of minutes and see how he goes from there . He’s definitely not ready for Championship football.7 -
No surprises about chuks but I have to say at the beginning of this season he was there when you needed him and did make a difference.. Psychologically, he is obviously a complex character, but there were no groans when a decision was made to bring him on. Very talented, very strong but not practical to keep him1

The Red Robin said:Pretty expected. Thought we may have kept Watson but he’s not a starter and we’ll be looking to upgrade.Braziliance said:blackpool72 said:The hardest player to get rid of will be Ahadme.
Still got 3 years left on his contract and I doubt any club above league one will be interested.
A terrible signing
Take the hit and free up some room. Utter dud.
With Watson I would not be surprised if he joined Jacko or Orient.0 -

COYR 🔴 ⚪️Yet here we all are now.I’m not feeling unduly worried at the moment, and feel like we have the structure and personnel in place to get the correct players in.3 -
I could see a scenario where Anderson becomes hot property next season. More and more of us are seeing what an effective game he has and if he makes the improvements you would expect, who knows. Same with TC and Leaburn has that massive jump in his locker if he can stay injury free. I could see Anderson taking Docherty's starting position. It is a common mistake to appraise young players without factoring potential improvement. Having said that, they can go backwards too whereas a 27 year old generally is what you you see is what you get.8

Probably Asimwe, too big a step up now
None good enough for the Champ1 -

It's not unreasonable to hope that one of the young 'uns makes a significant step up, in the manner of Alfie Doughty, who I don't think featured at all the 18-19 promotion season.
But you can't assume it when working out a recruitment strategy...it's more of a bonus if it happens1 -

Oxford,Pompey and Derby all struggled for most of the season and it was not until the last part of the season they all started picking up survival points,I think all of them were mostly in relegation positions for quite a few months.0

I think promotion can give you a slingshot and I am not ruling out competing for a Premier League place. All of our stars have to allign, yes, but it isn't impossible.4
