we are 33-1 to win the league and 13-1 for promotion on ladbrookes aparently0

It will definately be a season where Chris Powell will show his worth as a manager.
Had he have turned that shower round he inherited, that would have been a miracle!
He has done really well this year after a rubbish first season. Hopefully he can
continue to improve as a manager.
My guess is that we nick the final playoff spot on the last day of the season.
Parkinson had just won manager of the month prior to being sacked and the team were in playoff contention.0 -
The two best players during that month for us were Martin and Jackson, Martin left before Powell came in and Jackson only played five and a half matches and we won 4 of them.It will definately be a season where Chris Powell will show his worth as a manager.

As it stands, mid-table. Higher will depend on a few signings - we've got 7 or 8 players who would not look at all out of place in a top Championship team, but it's a squad game these days and we'd need to strengthen in a few places to challenge for the play-offs or above.
There's a lot of variables we don't know like how much money is out there and who's available but I would have thought a big clue is on our very own stats list... any player rated 6.75 and above must have a chance and we will see pretty quickly whether our back 5 are good enough.
Hopefully Chris Powell knows the championship well through his time with us, Leicester and West Ham and will know what he's looking for to attain a top half finish... 5 in and 5 out is my prediction just like the early Curbishley years but hopefully with more money as per the bigger picture mentioned by people on here0 -

Amazing odds , 13-1 i reckon we'll get promoted this season.

As another poster said, The board are not here to mess about, I think we will see reasonable investment and I think a tilt at the play offs are a distinct possiblity. The last time we were here we were in a mess on and off the pitch, everything has improved all round and judging by the success that other League One escapees have had in the Championship I think we can make an impact on this league.0

It's too early to tell what our expectations might be and it depends what will we be doing over the summer, how many players we will bring in and how much we will spend but the clubs long term ambition is to get back into the Premier League. Norwich and Southampton proved this can be done after promotion from League One so who knows what might happen. If we are fighting relegation next season then there is a cause to get worried but judging what has gone on this season and the ambition we have, I believe we could be in for a another good season.0

Grossly outpunching their weight at the time, struggled to get past Barnet (bottom of the 2nd Division) and Luton (Conference) in cup replays not forgetting of course they hadn't won in 4 before the 4-2 thumping at home by Swindon, who eventually got relegated, - Parkinson's last game. A great start for SCP but once the euphoria wore off not even he could not make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. Selective memory some people. All's well now though following the clear out and rebuilding exercise...................job done! ftbIt will definately be a season where Chris Powell will show his worth as a manager.

I would be delighted to stay up and consolidate, push on for a couple of years before making play offs...build for the long term essentially...
However I actually think this squad is very good and the Championship games I have seen this season have generally looked poor, there is little to fear there and if we have enough money to bring in 5 really good players (CB, CM, RW & 2x Strikers) we will have a decent chance of pulling off top 6.
Just depends on what investment is made and which players are bought in.0 -
It's too early to discuss this particular topic but I personally believe we are going to beat the living biscuit daylight shite out of leyton orient on Sunday.
All I want is for Charlton to become an established championship level club. No dramatic off field problems. Settle down and just enjoy it. Stay in the championship and allow the club to naturally grow.
It would be great7 - Sponsored links:

People forgetting we already played a championship side in Preston this season both teams at reasonable strength and we lost 2-1. Yes we played well and should have won but we didn’t and Preston is as bad as it gets in the championship. If we get promoted and avoid relegation it should be classed as a massive achievement, obviously a lot will come down to ins and outs in the window but it’s a massive step up in quality. Realistically we only have Ramsay, Jones, Edwards, Coventry who are guaranteed good level championship players. Can make the argument for Godden and Berry but no idea if age will catch up with then and TC/Small/Leaburn have potential but are very inconsistent will be much harder than people think0

My expectations for the Championship are that there will be 24 teams involved. One of them will be Charlton or Leyton Orient.3

Squad right now (and i do mean the whole squad) provided they stay relatively injury free, I think hovering around 16th but staying away from trouble by March. I do think we need to add a few more bodies in of the required quality and hope jones would be backed. Provided we actually get there.0

I’d be amazed if this current squad scored 16 goals by March, let alone hover around 16th!!2 -

Sunday - get promoted
Bank holiday Monday - started planning to replace ~50% of the squad that got us promoted6 -
Sunday - get promoted.
Monday - people on here moaning we haven't signed 25 players and will be relegated next year.9 -
The fixture list day goes in the diary 😁
Told ya0 -
Midfield and a big dose of creativity would be my main concern.
I expect us to be horrible to play against, get the same purists complaining about our style of play as we had before today as we win 1-0 away from home with 25% possession and 1 shot.
Hopefully Chapple , NJ and the owners are ready for a very busy summer5 -
Orient could have played for another our and not scored, however following narrow wins on both recent counts, we cartainly need so spend on a attacking front3
-
GK and back 5 will all be fine. But in front of them I can’t see anyone who’s definitely good enough. Probably only Leaburn if he can get fit and stay fit1
-
I guess we'd better start spending then. Season starts in August so we have the time2
