The first two cars i remember my mum having, an A30 and an A40, didn't have heaters. I didn't get my first pair of long trousers until I started secondary school. Character building.CharltonKerry said:Seeing the frost today it reminded me of going to school in the 50 and early ‘60’s, wearing short trousers until you were 11 or 12 and getting chapped legs, and mum treating it with a good dollop of Vaseline. The pleasing thing is you never hear of chapped legs and kids don’t wear short trousers to school.4 -

Finding loads and loads of B movies from the 40s, 50s and 60s on YouTube!
I’ve spent the last couple of evenings enjoying The Shape of Things to Come, The 27th Day, They Came from Beyond Space and Red Planet Mars!
Great stuff!0 -
Sorry Hans, I didn't even know they were cars. I thought they were phones from Samsung's mid range.IdleHans said:

Not just 50's and early 60s. I did the same in the 80s.CharltonKerry said:Seeing the frost today it reminded me of going to school in the 50 and early ‘60’s, wearing short trousers until you were 11 or 12 and getting chapped legs, and mum treating it with a good dollop of Vaseline. Maybe its just me (it most probably is), but I'm working out percentages on quite a regular basis.Hal1x said:

So do I, probably on 25% of days.Gribbo said:

It's good to have a hobby, it's healthy.Karim_myBagheri said:I've become very envious of people who have a real passion and hobby like trainspotters. I guess supporting Charlton is one but I'm not obsessive about it.1 -

Going shopping with the wife and the weather being so good that we can put the top down on the car and pump out some great sounds:
Fox on the Run - Sweet
Pet Sematary - Ramones
Poison - Alice Cooper
Enter Sandman - Metallica
Cinderella - The Sonics
Sympathy for the Devil - Motörhead

FFS, as much as I like some of those tracks, anyone deliberately inflicting their music on the general public like that needs a spud up their exhaust pipe. I'm just dashing over to the things that make you feel old thread now.Stuart_the_Red said:Going shopping with the wife and the weather being so good that we can put the top down on the car and pump out some great sounds:Fox on the Run - Sweet

Only do it outside of built-up areas, but appreciate what you’re both saying.
It annoys me when people do it which is why I take particular attention to only do this outside of built-up areas.0 -
Putting together a new fan I luckily spotted this warning sticker. God knows how many fingers I may have lost.

A story from a local Facebook group
What an absolutely beautiful morning in Plumstead, the sun is shining
, the birds are singing
and the 291 bus driver patiently waited for a man running towards it with a crate of beers and even kindly let him on for free
then another woman ran towards the bus so again he patiently waited… then it turned out she was chasing after the man because he stole the crate of beers from the coop so she chased him upstairs and massive argument, he is probably used to no one doing anything, ah well another lovely day in Plumstead
Apparently the Police turned up & arrested the culprit.

Not a general thing but quite specific!
Got a letter from the pension people telling me that, due to an error, my pension will be 27% higher than previously calculated!12 -
