A parent watching the cricket as we exercised our dogs this morning inviting them to meet an additional needs group just down the road from the school.
Despite their schedule at St George’s it’s impossible to say no to such a privilege.
Driving 5hr 30min home from Newquay, getting to my door just after 11pm without any breaks last night
Walked a bit like John Wayne when I crawled out of the car and could have travelled home this morning instead as that's when our tent pitch was booked until. But the last two years travelling home on a Friday / Saturday have resulted in a journey of around 8-hours.
The fact I'd be getting to watch the Leicester game today was secondary to my delight at leaving slightly earlier, as I never imagined I'd be around to see it, and thought I'd be listening in via. radio instead whilst getting pissed off with the traffic.

I would have thought if you had driven from Newquay without brakes you would have got home sooner
Being down in Cornwall each year, allows me to pick up a couple of cases of Healey's Strawberry & Lime / Berry Cider... I'm not a massive drinker so that should get me through to next year now.

Why not spend the last day down there and leave late afternoon when the traffic's mostly gone? It's basically an extra day's holiday, and you can stop somewhere nice en route for a massive lunch.

To be fair its something we'll consider doing next year as well.
We also had to come home slightly early as our dog hurt his paw (grass seed) the other day, and my wife wants to take him along to his usual vet, just to get him checked out before the Bank Holiday... So was a multitude of reasons for leaving slightly early.
The skill of packaging designers. Those that don't use plastic but origami style cardboard constructions. This amused me this morning. Flat(ish) piece of card: Folds up to become the perfect separator for four beer glasses...
Every year I receive a short test on “Safe guarding “ children while working at the school, every year through the summer holidays I worry if I’ll be invited back.
Today I received said email and my worry is over for another year, our dogs will now start their 15th year as Therapy dogs and their 12th as Reading dogs.
I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic young people and watching them grow into young adults some with careers in teaching and the military, others living their lives with various forms of autism ranging from speech delay to ADHD and many others on the spectrum. A non verbal child saying their first word or a child reading their first word from a book, a child who refuses to pass our dogs in the corridor to that same child asking to pet our dogs. None of it would happen if the dogs weren’t there, but it does and I’m lucky enough to witness it all from the other end of the lead we’ll be back next week, trying to make a difference.
