I've just spent a night in Bruges and it really has surpassed expectations. So clean and feels so safe.
Don’t go up the tower & watch out for the yanks.

I tried to make one and it was a disaster. Took me hours as well and it was worse than a Tesco one.
  • Some twat collided with my wife's car back in 2021, and refused to take the blame

Went all the way to Court today (My wife won), because the idiot changed their story, in an attempt to pin the full blame on her - Trouble when you fib, is the fact that it becomes difficult to stick your original statement, and is what cost him

The news of a breakthrough with Huntingdon's Disease. Not that it directly affects anyone I know (at least, that I know of), but it was the first time in ages that the opening news headline was a positive story rather than just doom and gloom.

Yes I agree - I wish his was a bigger headline. It's an amazing bit of news.

Heard a quoted figure of £2Mil for each treatment. Great science, but who funds it?
     Who choses who gets it?

Not attacking you here but thats such a red herring and misleading question when applied to new science. Whether that be medicine or energy or transport or anything.

New breakthrough technologies cost loads to begin with because of the cost of researching them, the niche tech/ equipment/ expertise/ experience needed for it. Over time the skills base grows, technology develops and it be ones both cheaper and more widely available. This is not the end point for the treatment nor the cost of it.

In this instance for a disease that previously guaranteed an early death and massive loss of quality of life for decades leading up to it, there is now a treatment that works. And in 10 years time with continued development I am sure it will be much more widely available. That alone give massive hope to sufferers and their families. Or even just people who's family carry the recessive gene that causes it and therefore don't know if the disease with appear in one of their family members.
  • At a family Halloween gathering I listened to a football exchange between my 9 year old grandaughter (Charlton) and her older male second cousin (Millwall).  The lad - who to be fair - is pretty cool, thought he killed the argument by saying "just look at the league table.  My grandaughter then took a step closer and blew a raspberry in his face.

I thought this was the best possible response under the circumstances  :|.
  • I just came across a video on Youtube of Cliff and Hank (85 & 84 res.) performing in Perth Australia last night.  Not a fan per se, but a bit of a boon for us septuagenarians.

West Brom wearing what i consider the ‘right’ away kit.

No clash with us and what I think of as their traditional colour and design.

Pot shots from 25 yards going under the opposing goalie's body in the 95th minute of a turgid game to win us 3 points

    That’s certainly a ‘marmite’ product.

Much as I like Marmite, every glass of Guinness 0% I've had so far has definitely been stout not yeast extract spread.

  • Getting my Car back from the Garage today, as a result getting the bodywork repaired after someone hit it in a Car Park whilst I was up in the Lake District - Haven't had the Car since Monday, and living outside of London, even in Medway where Public Transport doesnt show up every 10-15mins makes life so different.

Finally agreeing with the wife what we are treating ourselves to for our 50th wedding anniversary which is in June 2028 a week in Sydney, then a cruise from Sydney to Capetown followed by a 4 day Safari. My wife has never mentioned anything she’s want to do for holidays etc, and out the blue she suggested this. Well being married to me for 50 years she bloody well deserves to get her wish and be totally spoilt for over 10 weeks.

Yes, we know it’s a long way in advance and with luck we will make it, but if it’s not booked within the next couple of months then it will be sold out, and it has the added pleasure of denying Rachel from accounts some inheritance tax money (oh and our kids as well).
