  • Was in the The Brown Bear in Whitechapel on Saturday and was surprised to see this, thought it has died out in the 70s.
You say you saw this.....did you actually drink it?

Re-introduced last year by Allsopp's Brewery.
  • I wonder if it still works wonders?
  • Peterborough, Ostrich Inn, Saturday lunchtime. What a marvellous, marvellous pub this is.
We tried a couple of craft beer places but they didn't come close to this.

The Guinness settling behind the bar was mine.
  • Fox Farm Arietta at Proletariat in NYC. Excellent 7.2% hopped sour, improved by Roadrunner by the Modern Lovers playing in the background.

  • That was going to be my last beer in Proletariat, but then I found this on the bottle list - De Dolle Brouwers - 2019 Special Reserva Oerbier.

11% sour as f**k, in a way that only Belgians can make. Brought back memories of some of the beers we used to hunt down in my younger days. I’m just upset i didn’t bring any Tums, but there’s bound to be a 24 hour chemists around here somewhere.

  • Evil Twin Rauch Lager - 5% smoked lager conditioned on oak.  Lightly smoked, very dry finish but quite refreshing after walking over the Manhattan Bridge to DUMBO.

  • I've been buying bottles of various Fuller's beers from Waitrose while the modest offer is still on (3 for £5.85). I've never been a huge fan of London Pride but I absolutely love Black Cab stout, London porter and ESB. I've got an 1845 lurking somewhere in the cupboard too. All lovely.

Proper Evil Twin beer - Luxurious Luxury - 15 year anniversary beer. A collaboration with The Veil, it’s supposedly a sour, but it’s got so much fruit in it you really wouldn’t know it. Very mildly tart, but mostly you can taste the mango and bananas. Not so much the marshmallow.  Have yet to spot any of the gold flakes. It’s a 9.15% smoothie. Very nice, if you like fruity beer.

Just for context- here’s todays sours menu

  • A quick walk through Brooklyn, and its Other Half time.  First up - All Nelson Everything. 8.5% double NEIPA. Nice bitterness, but that really smooth fruitiness you get from Nelson Sauvin hops.
