Watched Lockerbie and thought it was good.....have a personal attachment as my wife is American and we were living in London in 1988 and her good friend came over to visit his brother who was doing a semester abroad in London from Syracuse University....we met up with them and the brother was going back to the USA for Xmas and was unfortunately on the Pan Am flight that was blown up.....very sadClem_Snide said:Finished Lockerbie yesterday. Strong start, but it tailed off quite alarmingly imo. Ended up watching the last episode simply because I'd watched the previous 4.2 -
Just binged the last part of Cobra Kai after it was released on Thursday (Netflix)
One of the best nostalgia shows to be made... Felt that Part two was the right time to bring it to an end, the writing whilst its always been cheesy felt stale... Part Three though raised the bar just a little bit better than P2; really ended on a nice note0 -
Great finish to Cobra Kai. Tie up all the stories and left on a happy note. Superb television.1

Just catching up with lastest series of Unforgotten. Some very clever and brave social commentary going on in the background. Particularly enjoyed the piss take of GB news

S3 Jack Reacher (round) starts This Thursday evidently.1

Sky have started showing the trailers for the new series of The Last of Us. No exact date for release just says April 2025 at the moment.
Obviously the second part of the game got very dark and am wondering whether the series will follow the same path.......0 -
It's all social commentary and very little plot.Chaz Hill said:Just catching up with lastest series of Unforgotten. Some very clever and brave social commentary going on in the background. Particularly enjoyed the piss take of GB news
In fact the plot barely moved at all in part 2, it was too busy cramming in little people, boat people, replicating GB News and Shamina Begum, gay men ad infinitum.
Even The Guardian said so.
It's no wonder the wonderful Nicola Walker chose to jump ship after series 4.

Interesting take in the Guardian review. Only seen first 2 episodes but enjoying it and looking forward to watching the rest of the series. The social commentary makes it all the more interesting from my point of view.Covered End said:

Sky Atlantic are showing Homocide - Life on the streets.
Is it as good as The Wire? Worth a watch?2 -
I like Dhand books. New Virdee TV series was slated by critics, but I'm hoping it was trying to flesh out the characters rather than rushing into gore and car chases.North Lower Neil said:Just read a book by the same author and it was brilliant, so will probably give this a go from Monday:

My favourite Bond book was 'the Spy who Loved Me' where the action didn't start until more than halfway through the narrative.1 -

Is Matt Berry the brother of Luke? Does he excel when centre stage but is virtually invisible on the periphery?1

Homicide is the term for the everyday killing of a human being lol2 -
Not sure that's quite the nameKBslittlesis said:Sky Atlantic are showing Homocide - Life on the streets.

Started 'Mussolini, Son of the Century' on Sky Atlantic .. Italian with subtitles (despite an English director/adapter), won't be for everyone0

New one I read is The Chemist, first of his I've read but really enjoyed it - all about a pharmacist who has regulars getting methadone getting dragged into turf wars.Gisappointed said:

Thought the first episode was very slow but I agree worth sticking with to see where it goes.0 -
No. Nothing's as good as The Wire anyway, but this is a bog standard By The Numbers cop procedural.KBslittlesis said:Sky Atlantic are showing Homocide - Life on the streets.

New documentary on Netflix today about poor Gabby Petito.
Was a massive story in the US around 2022. Not sure if it made news in the UK.0 -
Brilliant acting from Adam Scott at the end of the latest Severance Episode!!1

depends on your point of view on the various issues and the objectivity, or otherwise. I want to watch a drama, not be lectured on the about various issues in an unsubtle, one-sided wayChaz Hill said:

This weeks episode of Virdee was 100% better than the first episode. Glad I kept with it.Gisappointed said:

Anyone watching Zero Day on Netflix tonight ?
First day it's run and already 4 episodes into the 6 & loving it.
Robert De Niro still has it.1 -
Yeah it's definitely worth watching. Had previously watched Under the Banner of Heaven starring Andrew Garfield which itself was good and both shows giving Mormons a good shoeingcarly burn said:Is American Primeval any good?1 -
Yep. Started it yesterday. Really good so farThreadKiller said:

Agreed. But Tramell Tillmans Mr Milichick steals the show for me.Leroy Ambrose said:

Typical office middle management with one of the creepiest sides I think I've ever seen!2 -
Yeah - he's incredible. The way he delivers that 'Milkshake' line in the first episode of this season is fantastic, as is his reaction to 'those' paintings being given as a 'gift'. He's outstanding in yesterday's episode as well - managing to convey menace in silence, and talking to himself in a mirror.carly burn said:

Another fantastic episode - honestly can't remember anything being this consistently good, ever1 -
This will probably enrage some folk, but anyone who has tried to renovate or restore a period house will have some sympathy for Drew Pritchard, who in his series of Georgian House Restoration, after divorce, selling his beloved collections and even his dog dying embarks on his usual 'compulsive collector' behaviour, and strives to restore a 'bodged' Georgian House in Bath.
Having worked on a few Period House restoration magazines, albeit years ago, I have met several people who without the deep pockets of Drew, have come very unstuck, on barn conversions and the like albeit over 20 year's ago. The prices then absurd, seem to have gone into orbit, for Welsh blue slate roof tiles, and Georgian sash windows!
They all seemed quite sane, but the addiction can lead to shed loads of cash, hours of worry, and stress!. The former antique and restoration guru, has a very keen eye, but refuses to compromise. Watch the agony on Discovery +.
