Finished the final episode of Yellowstone. It's an entertaining and visually stunning series, but infuriates with its repetitive story points and implausible character choices. Beth, in particular, embodies that more than anyone, and must stand out as one of the most overplayed and absurd characters I've seen in a drama. Stil, overall it was a decent watch, especially the earlier seasons, which were gripping.
I felt the show really struggled after the death of John Dutton (Kevin Costner's character) and Jimmy - perhaps one of the only truly sympathetic characters, finds his screen time severely limited after moving off the ranch.

I thought it was about as good as it could have been, it's a series I will miss for the visuals if nothing else. Some really sharp dialogue at times and most of all its entertaining
Just finished latest series of Strike. Nowhere near as good as the previous series, in fact it’s a bit meh. Leads put in a decent shift, but let down by a poor story the screenwriter had to interpret.

That the Ink Black Heart? Is it available early on iPlayer?
It's my least favourite book of the series, the online forum stuff was painful. Sandwiched by the best two books IMHO, and Running Grave could translate really well to TV.

Ditto.
I also have read the book & found it the least enjoyable of the series .....difficult to understand at times.
I told Mr F last night that was my opinion and after watching the 1st episode for 20 mins, he fell asleep ....
Decided we can't be bothered to watch any further.

Yeah that’s the one; it’s on iPlayer
Perfect, thanks, didn't realise it went on there before 23rd!

Way too much cut from the book, needed at least two more episodes.

Running Grave should be excellent … hope it’s given a few episodes rather than four.

I will admit to have not read any of the books, but I love the series and although probably the weakest plot line, The Ink Black Heart was very enjoyable. By all accounts The Running Grave is being adapted for TV so if you bookworms say it is one of the best then I'll look forward to seeing it.
Watched the first episode of the new Dexter series on Paramount "Original Sin". Wasn't expecting much, but really enjoyed it. Great cast and the way they have introduced the whole "early years" scenario was great. Well worth a watch.
I've been looking forward to this and the reboot (especially after the last season of the original series was so shite, and the 'final season' was largely a disappointment). The casting in 'Original Sin' looks spot on - Dexter, Laguerta and Masuka look perfect.
Thought this was great. Extremely pleasantly surprised. Having Michael C Hall continue with the voice over was a good decision - the actor playing him is really good (he's brilliant in the criminally underrated and egregiously cancelled OA), but it needs that link and deadpan humour that could only come from Hall's voice.
Finally caught up with both Chernobyl and Masters of the Air these last couple of weeks, as never really got around to watching either
Both really good series, and whilst Masters of the Air doesnt have the same pull that Band of Brothers had, its still a good series.
Naturally its difficult to cover that theatre of the War when they're pretty much doing the same sort of mission each time, so thought they got a really good balance between covering events in the Air, and down on the ground at the same time - Equally thought at first that the moment when the POW's were walking through a German Town and got attacked was false, and whilst one of the main characters wasnt there, I was surprised to find out that it was pretty much true, and was good to have it highlighted!!
I thought the first two, maybe three, episodes were pretty decent. Then it seem to just lose the plot and become more and more bizarre and ridiculous. By the end it had become a (bad) parody of a Guy Ritchie film - I mean the Mexican standoff/shoot out between the Chinese and Americans in the middle of London in broad daylight with not a sole about?! And then Tracey Ullman turned up ffs! Jeez.
That said, I really liked the blonde assassin (Williams) character. She had some great lines.

Running Grave is tailor made for TV. Didn't mind Ink Black Heart, they did what they could with it, but missed out on a couple of storylines from the book.

Both amazing series! Chernobyl is something I'll never watch again though. Too horrible ...
I'll be forever grateful for Spielberg and Tom Hanks for making Masters of the Air as well as Band of Brothers and mostly importantly for me, The Pacific. I watched Masters of the Air as it aired earlier this year and it got me down into the rabbit hole of the subject of WWII and later modern warfare. I watched The Pacific while waiting for new episodes of Masters of the Air and it was a huge education for me about that part of the WWII history which I had known nothing about before but really should have because... well I'm from China and grandfathers of my generation fought against the same enemy. If I had to choose one all-time favourite series of mine, I would say The Pacific. I just hope it gets the recognition it deserves. It's always overshadowed by Band of Brothers.
Finished squid game series 2 last night - a right load of old shite. That Thanos has to be the most irritating character in the history of tv. If I was in there, I’d have killed him long before any of the games could have finished him off.

So I settle down to watch Nigellas take on simple recipes that are, apparently relaxingly simple to prepare.
First recipe, a carrot cake.
First ingredient - crystallised ginger!
Oh do f**k off Nigella-! :-)
quite enjoying it so far.

A kind of House of cards for the Tudor years

First the French film, and now a TV Series, not sure where the latter can be viewed as a I opted to sail the seven seas
But its excellent viewing - Looks to be the closest so far to the book, what with the 2024 and 2002 releases
If ever you come across it... Give it a watch.
