Can they just let us know who they're trying to sign now please?
I dont care if it doesnt go ahead or not... I mean it doesnt matter if its not a secret, as no other club can sneak in and sign him
I honestly doubt we have much competition for the players we are in for.
Unless their recruitment team also have a fetish for crocked and bit part players.
Let's face it, we can't compete with championship clubs or top end league one clubs for money or status. With league one we are probably top 6 on choice. Let's face it, we cleared out some of our unwanted players, and we signed 2 unwanted players for a couple of months.
January window has been more about not selling our jewels. Is that showing ambition?
Mate, we have a top4 budget by their own admission. We have also been told of their wealth and their ambition to get this club promoted.
I don't believe hanging on to players is ambitious, as they're under contract. Signing Lloyd Jones was a massive positive, fair play. But respectfully, as a Charlton fan, I have much higher hopes than us competing with Wycombe for the signature of a player already on our books.
I don't care about any players that left, they're all pants (excluding Terry Taylor), fair play for managing to get rid. That still doesn't change the fact those are all signings sanctioned by the same board.
Let's see who this last player is anyway, could change the field.
They do have
Personally I'm glad the owners are not being stupid and throwing money at it because it's not necessarily guaranteed to get you promoted, if they go steady enough and we get top 10 this year that's an achievement on last year then we can aim for promotion next year when Birmingham and likely Wrexham or Huddersfield will be gone, if we happen to get play offs this season that's a massive added bonus.
Sorry but that's a load of tosh. This season is the first in the last 3 that we've actually got a change of the play offs. What's the point of wasting that chance because Birmingham & Wrexham are in the division. What happens next season when Luton & Stoke are in it instead ? Wait another season ? Strike while the iron is hot. But no, lets just be happy that we'll finish 10th so an improvement on last season.
Disappointed we didn't get the last attacking piece across the line. Maybe we will have to see a bit more of Dixon in cameos but I'd have liked some experience or a bit of a gamble like Tovide
Tovide has been out injured since the middle of December.
Time will tell if McIntyre and Gilbert are better than Campbell and REG.
Edun, Asiimwe, Mitchell, Potts, Hylton I don't think needed replacing, the one that I thought we might also try and replace was Taylor, and I still think we're short on attacking options, especially out wide

Like I said, the bar is so low it's on the fucking ground and people are still bringing their own shovels.
Genuinely even by my low expectations I'm shocked. Roland Duchatelet gave it more of a go for us in transfer windows.
Can’t really judge the window until we see how the 2 new players get on. Looking at our team the 3 weaker points have been GK, LCB and AM.
We’ve brought in 2 of those positions so if they are better than REG and Campbell then we’ve improved the squad (I should hope they are!). If they are better than Gillesphey and Berry then we’ve improved the starting 11 and it’s been a good window
No doubt we’ll hear in the morning how lucky we are to hang onto so a number of the squad. So disappointing and as much as I hope Gilbert and McIntyre are great, this feels like a massive book balancing exercise, with 6 players fewer in the squad and two hopeful punts, rather than the clear quality additions that were being touted.
The verbal gymnastics in the statement from the club about NJ being ecstatic with the window will be a fun read tomorrow.
I mean if you look at some of the predictions we actually are. Depending on what you believe, any combination or all of Leaburn, Jones, T. Campbell and Small were going to be sold off.
I'm not exactly thrilled by the incoming (or lack thereof) but it's definitely nice to not have that gut punch of a departure for once.
I'm NOT for an instant saying that this makes it a "good" window of course but it certainly could be worse.
Most peoples wish list was a LCB, an attacking midfielder/number 10 and a wide player/attacker.
Im ok with the MacIntyre signing as I remember him as being decent at Reading. Competition at least for Gillesphey, hopefully an upgrade.
Can’t say I’m impressed with the Gilbert signing. He’s practically no experience, compare his appearance record at 23 with say 20 year old TC, and we needed someone better than Berry. Who knows he may be the dogs doodah’s and I hope he is but I’m not holding my breath.
And no wide player/attacker. This is the biggest disappointment for me.
I wasn’t expecting the owners to spend millions but we have spent nothing, in fact likely the opposite with small fees for REG and Edun. We are on the cusp of the play offs, who knows when we will get this chance again, and I expected some investment. We were also told incomings would be a significant upgrade on what we already had. I don’t think with the best will in the world either of the signings are that.
Looks like a last minute deal that failed to beat the deadline
Can't have been chasing him all window, he's an academy player and not featured for them. We must have missed out on our actual target and tried to get him at the last minute.

That’s all great but no-one’s actually explained why that means anything like what you’ve said it means. Still waiting for the club statement that says we’re packing up for the year.
Last time we got promoted out of this division we replaced Karlan Grant with Josh Parker - and our results actually improved.
”Strike while the iron is hot … don’t waste a chance of top six” = “satisfy my whiny desires for today and sod whether it makes sense tomorrow”

Wouldn't have happened on Big Ron Dangerfield's watch.
It seems some on here are using our positive form of late to disguise how poor this window has been but to me it seems that yet again this SMT are not fit for purpose. A few scraped wins are nowhere near enough to convince me that we can get promoted this season and I had hoped the squad cull would see more quality through the entrance.

We now know the cards available to play.
Kept Small, Leaburn and Jones.
Bought in a couple of Championship loans.
What's not to like?

In summary, an opportunity lost.

Jewison Bennette has signed on loan from Sunderland or has he?
Conflicting info as to whether it went through on time.
