I loved the Detectorists and the programme I could most compare to a comfy pair of slippersClem_Snide said:An old one and I've seen it before a couple of times, but binged Detectorists over the last few nights. Absolutely love it and well worth the additional watch.6 -
Ripley.
Just finished it and thought it was excellent.1 -
Ms AA and I tried The Traitors last night. Awful “reality” drivel and, despite the billing, no one died.0

I've got a mental imagine of you sitting there watching, like this:AddicksAddict said:Ms AA and I tried The Traitors last night. Awful “reality” drivel and, despite the billing, no one died.

In episode one, no one died.
In episode two, no one died.1 -
We both really liked it then thought it went AWOL around ep 4Leroy Ambrose said:
It gets better as well - unbelievable quality of writing and performances. Not a weak link in the entire cast.Valley11 said:Just started Severance. Two eps in and hooked. Quality.1 -
Watched the Sky Documentary - The Tattooists Son last night. About the son of Lali Sokolov (tattooist of Auschwitz) and his journey to learn his parents story - they never told him anything about the camps.
Incredibly moving and interesting in equal measure.
We worth a watch.0 -
First two Episodes of Severance S2 are great!!2

Well, I must be odd (I just tee them up, fill your boots…..). Just started Severance after glowing recommendations on here and I lasted half an hour. Just seems a bit too weird for me. I’ll probably give it another go. By the same token , I’m really enjoying the remake of Day of the Jackal. It’s absolute tosh of course with ham acting and plot holes as far as the eye can see but as far as undemanding watches go it’s got me through a couple of nights of insomnia so far.1

I’m not really liking Day of the Jackal, not sure why, but silly plot doesn’t help, whereas my wife is loving it. Normally we are pretty like minded on TV show. Must say I think this series of Silent Witness has been excellent, as long as you can look past pathologists acting like detectives.Sillybilly said:Well, I must be odd (I just tee them up, fill your boots…..). As I said before, Severance is like a modern day vision of the Prisoner. I’ll wait until all of Season 2 is available as I can’t do with this only showing 1 a week on Apple +.Sillybilly said:Well, I must be odd (I just tee them up, fill your boots…..). I found I had to persist with it, same with Silo... its a slow burner and well worth the wait for me.Sillybilly said:Well, I must be odd (I just tee them up, fill your boots…..). I dont disagree but I think you undersell it - it's gentle but the subtlety of the humour is a delight, and I love its englishness. One of the best things I've ever seen on telly.AFKABartram said:

More fool me for the last couple of years.
Going to give this one a swerve. A tired format that needs retiring with Sugar.1 -
Was trawling Netflix for something to watch yesterday and finally gave a real oldie a chance. Whitechapel.
The concept of copycat killings ranging from Jack the Ripper to The Krays sounds a bit mad, and the acting is very much of its time (early-ish 2000s) but I actually really like it.
Steve Pemberton is excellent.5 -

Just read a book by the same author and it was brilliant, so will probably give this a go from Monday:

If you like Silo, Severance I think you will enjoy this.1 -
Amandaland on BBC as a spin off from Motherland was good fun last night.Yes similar but no issues with that.By contrast the second series of ‘Am I being unreasonable’ was odd and not sure if that will pan out as a good watch.0

The Guardian gave Amandaland a 5 star review so I assumed it would be absolute toiletvalleynick66 said:Amandaland on BBC as a spin off from Motherland was good fun last night.Yes similar but no issues with that.By contrast the second series of ‘Am I being unreasonable’ was odd and not sure if that will pan out as a good watch.2 -
Thought the latter was very weird, doubt that I'll watch it again.valleynick66 said:Amandaland on BBC as a spin off from Motherland was good fun last night.Yes similar but no issues with that.By contrast the second series of ‘Am I being unreasonable’ was odd and not sure if that will pan out as a good watch.1 -
I thought Day of the Jackal was pretty good. But what I really liked was:MrOneLung said:

Finally got around to The Day of the Jackal. Half way in and I’m hugely disappointed. It just reminds me of all the reasons we never watch police/secret service stuff. It’s just so full of inconsistency. God knows what people in firearms must think of it 😳 I know there has to be a level of artistic license but this is way out there. Don’t think it helps that the two main characters are totally unbelievable imho.
I’ll watch it until the end now I know who Noah is (I like him as an actor & am really hoping he can save it).
Really makes me realise how good The Wire was. That was bang on the money for realism.
also didn't care at all about the MI5 woman's family life or the scenes involving the Jackals family really.
that they made the M15 woman so dislikeable a character. Brave choice. I'm totally fed up with TV & Film condescendingly portraying minorites as potential saints that only if they werent so held back by society they would be achieving great things. She came across as selfish, arrogant, irresponsible, dangerous and an all round pain in the arse and the program was all the better for it.5 -
Watched a bit - thought it was very poor. Predictable script.cafcnick1992 said:
