    Quality performance.
A master class in how to defend and I enjoyed watching it, especially the first half. If we maintain that level of concentration and effort we will have a great base to win a lot more games.
What has really changed is that we are actually passing to each other and not giving it away.
It has taken the players a while, but we are starting to see Nathan deliver the quality we were expecting when he was appointed.

Shame we are still four points off sixth. At least Stockport are stuttering so fifth and sixth up for grabs. Need to keep this momentum up though. Tough away fixtures after Xmas, five of the top six plus Bolton to come.

Very entertaining game. 2 great goals from the big man, (even though I missed the first one). Took a mate with me and when Anderson came on, I was explaining what type of player he is: Will run his socks off and close down opposition, but a bit clueless once he's got the ball. 30 seconds later, he closes down and nicks the ball, plays a lovely one-two with Leaburn to find himself bearing down on goal..........only to stumble his lines at the crucial point. A complete summary in one swift move. "Ah, I see what you mean" was the reply from my mate.

A few decent half chances to add a third before they scored, but it just didn't fall our way and thankfully, it didn't matter in the end.

We might not have closed the 4 point gap, but we're barging our way closer, as others slip up.

One side note: After Leaburn got injured by their LB, Miles then made a point of seeking him out for some payback and got a yellow card. Miles deliberately ran across Harvie, giving him a whack with his leading arm. Luckily the contact was slight, but he needs to be a bit more controlled. We can't afford to lose him through getting wound-up by opposing players. If the ref had a better view, this could've been a diferent coloured card.
  • Great result against a supposed unbeatable side who we made look rather ordinary at times, we do seem to be catching teams cold at the start of each half, again today with Leaburn getting our first right at the start of the second half, quickly followed by his superb lob over the keeper from outside the box.
Again like Cambridge we failed to get the third and left ourselves with a tricky last 15 minutes when they scored what must be agreed a good goal.
So at the end of today's matches we find ourselves in ninth, and four points outside the top six with Crawley up next...another three points anybody...👍

First half was a yawnfest. Second was great entertainment. Not the greatest quality but I think the terrible pitch played a part in that. 10 out of 10 for endeavour from our whole team today.  Why have we not seen more of that?   Wycombe were a disappointment. Just shows that this league is generally poor.  We have been pants for the most part but the playoffs suddenly seem possible.  Funny old game.

Good, they were only off it because we set up to stop them yet still counter attacked. The starting 11 for WW which may become clear when the window opens.
I disagree the 1st half was a yawn fest. I was so impressed with our shape and the way we limited Wycombe.
Excellent 2nd half where we played with nous and gave passes for Leaburn and Campbell to run on to.
Well we had 46% possession in first half and 1 shot on goal each. In second half we had only 25 to 30% possession, but we had more shots on target than them.

You must mean one shot on target 🤔

In the 1st half Berry alone had two shots at goal, one at the keeper and the other one went wide. Campbell also had a shot from way out which lacked power and the keeper saved.
Out of all the stats, possession means the least.

Putting the ball in the onion bag is the crucial stat and trumps all other data.

Two crackers today after the two gifts from Cambridge. Hope we can get a sack load against Crawley 💪🏻

Comments about the awful pitch. What’s the problem?
    It looks terrible doesn’t it.

We paid a fortune for that not to happen?
Is it extra wear from the women's games perhaps?
    I doubt it. They've played what.....6 or 7 games?

Haven't looked at their forum but if Wycombe fans thought they didn't deserve what they got they need their bumps felt. It was a good goal they scored but out of nothing. We had the better chances and in all honesty, they were poor.

I think their manager was quite honest in declaring that they only got to grips with the game in the last half hour but did not produce anything going forward for the majority of the game.

Complete performance from back to front.. Gilly was MOM he was superb, back three were excellent…. Mid worked themselves into the ground The Doc again superb and the pass from
Berry for the second top drawer... up front best Leaburn played for quite a while and Campbell could and should have put the game to bed
  • Can’t complain about any of that today. Thought we were very good and set the foundation in the first half, had the better chances and stopped them doing much at all.
Consistent line up, tactics, performances and results. NJ answering a lot of questions with actions rather than words.
    On to Crawley.

I don't get to watch the team play unless they are on Sky, so pleasantly surprised to see them play well for a couple of wins. Shame about the pitch though, it looked very rough in places.

I thought we looked good after scoring the 2nd and the confidence was up.  Wycombe had run out of ideas.

Two well taken goals from Leaburn, and 3 wins in a row is commendable

But, I thought we were out of the game for the first 35 minutes with Wycombe looking much more like efficient with the ball and the signs were there that we could concede

I still think this bunch of players aren’t up to it, and this is the first time winning 3 on the bounce since the opening 3 games, we’ve had these mini false dawns before.

time will tell, but I still can’t see past a mid table finish

    Oh right.  Probably not then.
  • A good watch and deserved win. Table looked great straight after!

Would have liked to see Docherty step in to calm down Leaburn when he (understandably) lost his head a bit. That’s part of captain’s role.

Now let’s show Crawley what we’re really all about to make up for that dire home performance.

On the thread about what match started our decline as a club, a few of us mentioned Wycombe in Dec 2006. Maybe one day we can look back on Wycombe in Dec 2024 as the positive turning point - though that is a difficult one to call!

If Wycombe sell Kone this window, they may find it challenging to hang on to an auto spot.

Our last two fixtures of the season could get interesting. Here’s hoping.

Very entertaining game which we thoroughly deserved to win. Had Berry, Campbell or Small had their shooting boots on we could have won by more. I don't want to be too critical though, because they all had good games and all contributed to the win. Jones was superb again at the back and the look of determination in Edwards face as he hared to be first to every ball down the left was a joy to behold. Miles though, what a finisher! Bloody marvellous. A bit heart in mouth with the amount of hang time on that second goal (I should have had more faith), what a moment that was. Onwards and upwards.

You have to feel for their supporters in honestly not sure I could cope with being held to a draw after being 4-1 up at HT

  • If Wycombe are the bench mark then we can definitely get a top 6 spot. I felt confident of a win after a first half that showed we had nothing to fear. I said to a mate at half time that if Leaburn can escape the wrestling holds being used on him then he would score & somehow without any help from another useless ref he did just that, with the 2nd being a gem. The only time I felt a pang of anxiety was when they pulled a goal back but I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. If Campbell didn’t have a rush of blood to the head when he gets near goal he could be a really good goalscorer but it’s not something that can be coached into a player. He had a great opportunity to score if only he had the bottle to get his head to it but wasn’t surprised unfortunately when he tried to bring it down instead. Having said that I do rate him especially as a winger & adds a lot to the team in a position that he’s been asked to play that isn’t natural to him. Everyone worked their socks off today & players who caught my eye today apart from Leaburn was Small & Coventry plus Lloyd Jones. but all the team deserve credit today. There were 5 Spanish guys sitting in front of me today & fair play to them they were joining in with the support for the boys . I can feel my enthusiasm coming back but am fully aware that this is Charlton & am expecting to be brought back down to earth but will enjoy this run while it lasts !
  • At least with that we might be able to bolster the team in Jan… with Miles probably heading for the door as well

Superb performance, everyone played very well except for AMB who didn't have the opportunity to do so as a virtual spectator.

Small had one of his best games as did Jones, Mitchell, Edwards, Docherty, Coventry, Berry, Campbell and Leaburn.
Gillesphey definitely had his best game for Charlton.

I can't for the life of me fathom why Nathan Jones had us playing hoof ball with no passing, speed or width until December.
I knew the players were capable of a lot better if only he gave them a chance.

    A complete mystery to me.

100% mate but I give the bloke credit for making the change before it was too late. I didn’t think he would but very very happy he has
  • Wycombe were nowhere as good as I expected and we were much better than I expected could have scored more but really enjoyed the game keep it going boys

It’s objectively impossible for both of those things to happen at the same time.
  • Haven’t read this thread. But what a nasty, horrible little team they are. They targeted Miles early on and he got no protection from the ref. Their number 2 was a disgrace, always in the refs ear, constantly moaning, fouling etc. Their number 3 was the worst, he nearly snapped Miles’ wrist (well that’s what it looked like from the north lower). Horrible team who got everything they deserved today. We stood up well to them, didn’t allow their bullying tactics to work. Although miles did go after that no. 3 after the incident and got a yellow!
