Need to prepare for life without him/sign an upgrade on Gillesphey.
Goalkeeper (if we can get a top no.1), left sided centre back, right back, box to box mid, creative mid, a winger and a striker who has a bit of zip as none of our strikers can really run.
That would be the minimum for me. I also wouldn't extend anyone's contracts apart from the obvious ones like Jones and Small. Get the rest gone.Braziliance said:We certainly need a left sided centre back, the defense isn't fine. Maybe an attacking midfield option would be nice.Lots of forwards, but do we need someone more agile than Hylton. Can't count on Chuks, and if Leaburn is out with Injury we just have Godden. Not convinced Ahadme is going to click. If this lot are serious and want promotion then we need to get rid of 2-3 and have quality replacements in the final third.fenaddick said:killerandflash said:I don't see strikers as a priority, as unless we sign a cheat code striker for this level, which is incredibly unlikely, they'll still be feeding on scraps.
How does NJ see us scoring goals, as I don't have a clue based on the first half of the season. Is it from midfield, as than we'll need a classy No 10 to create chances. If it from old fashioned wingers getting to the byline and slinging in crosses? If it from inverse wingers cutting in to score with their stronger foot? If it from attacking wing backs?
Midfield and Fowards leave to the summer when Hylton is FT coach, Aneke gone, Leaburn (if we get decent money) and we are just left with Godden and Ahadme.0 -

Wrexham linked with Bamford. With second place really up for grabs, I can see them trying to go for it in January. Thought Mullin looked way off League One standard so a striker is likely their priority.
Jones hates loans but with the standard of League one this season there is a slim chance we can somehow end up 6th. I know it's very unlikely with how poor we've been but to be only 4 points off is a gift and we should be aiming for it whilst it's still possible. Our January loans are always crap but if we could somehow pull off a JRS standard loan that would be huge, I just can't see us being able to get anyone permanently who could have a similar impact.6 -
With the season we have had to still be within a playoff spot is ridiculous but also a massive opportunity!if our ownership are serious in their intentions then they would be crazy not to invest in January to get some players that can get us promoted while we can still spend before the new regulations come in4
-
Provided the cash is there it makes sense to invest in January regardless, even if it's a case of building to aim for top 2 next season, an additional 6 months to bed players in is no bad thing. Id hope to see a left footed CB, perhaps a RB on loan, a CM who looks forward rather than back and if I'm being greedy a young goalkeeper with high potential a la Ben Hamer when we got him from Reading where he was struggling to break through as a #14
-
Goalkeeper, creative CM and a CB and we should be set0

January isn't a good time to do major rebuilding, as rival teams tend to realise you're desperate.
The likes of Gillesphey and REG came in last January, and still have a couple of years on their contracts. Is Potts fit enough to play regularly?6 -
I don't think he's been fit enough for a couple of years.0

If we're concerned with building for next season, then getting Small and Lloyd Jones on new contracts is just as important anyway.13

Wouldn't a bad signing, was one of the rumours from the summer, but... Doesnt make sense seeing we have Godden and Kanu
Unless we sign Harry, and loan Kanu out.0 -
Tbf Cornick was the one ex-Luton player I wanted.
And as a bonus he can sing as well.11 -
Liked Cornick when he was at Luton, think he’s lost his pace now though so not sure he’d be much better than what we have.0

Remember coming up against Connick in the Bowyer promotion season. Luton were like a team of body builders that season and he was no exception.
Jones loves him.

I don't expect it, but it's what's needed
What ever you are on i think you need to share it around.
As for your Seven new players , what do you think the owners are made of money😂0 -
Not convinced he is the player he was or what we need.
Not sure yet another ex-Luton player is going to excite the fans either regardless of his qualities.
Still think we'll see a half dozen players moved out and only two or three come in.
Hopefully, that is still an upgrade in the squad.2 -
Cornick would be a very NJ signing but I wonder if Wrexham will beat us on wages. Agree with others that I'm not sure Cornick is an upgrade on what we have up top.0
-
Looking at cornicks goal stats, I assumed he was a centre back!!!!!!!!
we have enough non scoring forwards already3 -
Not saying Cornick is the answer but I think he’d be far better than Ahadme.1
