  • We certainly need a left sided centre back, the defense isn't fine. I don't think Lloyd Jones will be sticking around, how often do we extend the contracts of our valuable players?

Need to prepare for life without him/sign an upgrade on Gillesphey.

Goalkeeper (if we can get a top no.1), left sided centre back, right back, box to box mid, creative mid, a winger and a striker who has a bit of zip as none of our strikers can really run.

That would be the minimum for me. I also wouldn't extend anyone's contracts apart from the obvious ones like Jones and Small. Get the rest gone.
If that lot are the minimum for you then I think you are going to be greatly disappointed.

If we want a chance of sneaking play offs, that's what's probably needed. Plus with the mention of this being the last window before ffp becomes more strict.

    I don't expect it, but it's what's needed

The financial rule changes won't affect us. CM has talked publicly about the fact the owners knew they were coming so we have basically been operating under them already to make sure we are covered. Wouldn't expect fireworks this window.
  • Defence is fine as long as Jones can stay fit.
Midfield is a conundrum. Maybe an attacking midfield option would be nice.
Lots of forwards, but do we need someone more agile than Hylton. Can't count on Chuks, and if Leaburn is out with Injury we just have Godden. Not convinced Ahadme is going to click.
If this lot are serious and want promotion then we need to get rid of 2-3 and have quality replacements in the final third.

I don't see strikers as a priority, as unless we sign a cheat code striker for this level, which is incredibly unlikely, they'll still be feeding on scraps.

How does NJ see us scoring goals, as I don't have a clue based on the first half of the season. Is it from midfield, as than we'll need a classy No 10 to create chances. If it from old fashioned wingers getting to the byline and slinging in crosses? If it from inverse wingers cutting in to score with their stronger foot? If it from attacking wing backs?
We also have about 6 strikers (if you count TC) so would be mad to get more
More no, better yes. GK should be priority, a snappy youngster from the PL.

Midfield and Fowards leave to the summer when Hylton is FT coach, Aneke gone, Leaburn (if we get decent money) and we are just left with Godden and Ahadme.

You have to remember Jones is our best player (so he'll join some forgein club on pre-contract terms and then get fed up and join Wrexham)

But that’s a dangerous game to play isn’t it? When Jones was injured for an extended period this season the defence looked much weaker. Frankly I don’t think there’s a single part of our squad that couldn’t be improved upon and, if we are to be promotion contenders next season, we should take any opportunity to strengthen any positions we can this January.

And I think perhaps this will be the signal for where our current bunch of custodians are.
Help NJ out and spend some real money then we will go up.
F*ck about and 'play' at football then we shall be here next year.
  • With the season we have had to still be within a playoff spot is ridiculous but also a massive opportunity!if our ownership are serious in their intentions then they would be crazy not to invest in January to get some players that can get us promoted while we can still spend before the new regulations come in
  • Provided the cash is there it makes sense to invest in January regardless, even if it's a case of building to aim for top 2 next season, an additional 6 months to bed players in is no bad thing. Id hope to see a left footed CB, perhaps a RB on loan, a CM who looks forward rather than back and if I'm being greedy a young goalkeeper with high potential a la Ben Hamer when we got him from Reading where he was struggling to break through as a #1
  • Goalkeeper, creative CM and a CB and we should be set

  • I don't think he's been fit enough for a couple of years.

    The latter.
  • Would Luke Wolfenden be beyond us? Not getting too many games for Ipswich. Loan with a view to perm if we go up. I think he is a leftie.
Are we turning into St. Pauli?

    You’re better than that.
  • Didn't he play for Luton?
  • Didn't he play for Luton?
    Very successfully.
  • Nailed on then.

  • Wouldn't a bad signing, was one of the rumours from the summer, but... Doesnt make sense seeing we have Godden and Kanu

Unless we sign Harry, and loan Kanu out.
  • Liked Cornick when he was at Luton, think he’s lost his pace now though so not sure he’d be much better than what we have.

Haven’t heard of him but his son sure knows his way around a Christmas song.

Remember coming up against Connick in the Bowyer promotion season. Luton were like a team of body builders that season and he was no exception.
    Jones loves him.
    Nailed on!

If we want a chance of sneaking play offs😂

What ever you are on i think you need to share it around.

As for your Seven new players , what do you think the owners are made of money😂
  • Not convinced he is the player he was or what we need.

Not sure yet another ex-Luton player is going to excite the fans either regardless of his qualities.

Still think we'll see a half dozen players moved out and only two or three come in.

Hopefully, that is still an upgrade in the squad.
  • Cornick would be a very NJ signing but I wonder if Wrexham will beat us on wages. Agree with others that I'm not sure Cornick is an upgrade on what we have up top.
  • Looking at cornicks goal stats, I assumed he was a centre back!!!!!!!!

we have enough non scoring forwards already
  • Not saying Cornick is the answer but I think he’d be far better than Ahadme.
