To be fair to Charlie and his chums (and I don't like to be fair to them), wasn't Jones' contracted agreed and negotiated by the Americans...pretty sure I remember reading at the time that they took over the interview process and agreed the deal with Jones.SouthLincsAddick said:
Unbelievable! Charlie and his chums have really landed us in it now. We basically can’t afford to avoid relegation because of their contract mismanagement. Either or, Jones was a coup at the time and would have always been able to demand the contract he wanted, especially when we were staring down the barrel of relegation.
On this, I don't Charlie and Co can be blamed too much.1 -
Agreed - it looked like the best we could have done at the time and he did what he needed to do last time - I.e save us from relegation and be better than Holden and Apples . But he’s not doing well and he’s turning the fans off . I don’t think anyone could be top 6 with this squad , but I think it could be better to watchL0rd_M0ntagu3 said:

Absolutely agree. I don't think he helps himself either, I don't know if it's attitude/ego or ignorance/unawareness on his part. Didn't Louis say on a recent Charlton Live, that he seems genuinely confused at the comments regarding us being a long ball side. He seemed bemused at half time against Crawley when fans were booing.wmcf123 said:

Football fans aren't stupid, and I think his attitude towards the press and fans is the opposite of endearing.0 -
I don’t believe that for one second. Billionaire American businessmen take time out of their busy schedules to personally recruit a manager and negotiate a sloppy unaffordable contract, while Charlie keeps quiet and offers no advice. The extent at which Charlie is willing to deflect from any accountability is embarrassing. It’s weak and poor management.L0rd_M0ntagu3 said:

Saw him in Greenwich spoons the other night. My mate’s words were ‘why’s he strutting about like he owns the place’.
Rumour has it, the group he was with didn’t like the drinks he ordered. He then proceeded to order the exact same for the next few rounds2 -
Cannot wait for next week's excuse of "The ball was to round"0

I dread to think how Jones would respond to both fans and the after match interview if we took a tonking one day.

I think the issue is we play in front of teams too much. Of course one of the reasons we do this is we have difficulty getting behind opponents. Small and TC are our main outlets to do this but you have to have this and something else. Quite simply, we are not hard enough to defend against and Jones has juggled and swapped but never looks ike addressing it.
I hate to say this but we are probably best focusing on defending and hoping we grab a goal somehow. Not great but we are almost certainly going to have to bring in a couple of players who can alter this issue in January.0 -

If Jones is un-sackable because we can’t pay him off, then that tells you all you need to know about the owners. Who employs a manager without an exit plan for him if it isn’t working?ElfsborgAddick said:The reason Jones didn’t get the Millwall job is he insisted on a clause in his contract that he could talk to PL clubs if they came in for him. Because with the way things are going they are going to be paying him to mismanage us in league 2.1 -
How long is his contact and do we have to pay him off the whole amount?0
-
This club really has turned full circle into a circus.
I would say unbelievable, but it’s actually not. Worrying times again.
Walking dangerously towards another relegation dog fight before Christmas. Just look at the league table and form guide.
only team we have beaten in 12 league games is Burton. Who were rock bottom and had 10 men.
that was hardly a convincing victory either8 -
He signed for four and half years when he joined. Any pay off hasn’t been confirmed anywhere, but a few have pointed out manager contracts usually have clauses meaning clubs don’t have to pay off the full contract.Arsenetatters said:How long is his contact and do we have to pay him off the whole amount?4 -

A man with Jones' ego ought to fall into Metvhen's hands when negotiating opt outs. No way Jones wouldn't back himself. If Methven is the business man he claims to be, there should be performance milestones. Not saying we should sack him yet. He needs to turn things round sooner rather than later though IMO.

Don’t think Jones is going anywhere for a while. Expect we may see some more movement behind the scenes first but I wouldn’t expect to hear about it straight away.NJ, fortunately for him, has a few things falling in his favour, not gone backwards in league position, improved defence this season. For supporters it’s a boring watch, for a business it’s not the immediate concern. The owners spent money acquiring the club, have spent and continue to spend money off the field, spent on two managerial changes (Holden & Appleton) and spent more on the third instalment (NJ). Support departments have been invested in.These guys are highly successful investors, it was only a matter of time before they had an in-depth understanding of the industry.Interesting times ahead.2

I am by no means supporting NJ here so please don’t shoot me down. However you can’t look past the fact that for the best part of this season (not sure how many games in total) but Jones has been without one of Edward’s and/or Kane Ramsay who are both vitally important in the style of play that we was playing at the start of the season!I don’t mean to dig individuals out but I’m sorry, Edmond’s Green should be absolutely nowhere near our starting line up. To my knowledge that wasn’t an NJ signing? Leaburn hasn’t looked the same player at all since coming back from injury also and before anyone says it, I am not having it that this is solely down to the way Jones is setting us up. A player of his calibre should be able to shine in any system and that is a compliment to him! That being said, I can’t quite workout why our style has changed so drastically. I can only assume it’s desperation on NJs part? I don’t know why though. This is the frustration that I assume I share with the majority of our fans!1

Fans are deserting in droves , they should be extremely concerned3 -
Has it changed drastically? There were still plenty of hopeful long balls on Saturday. We played decent football as far back as the Birmingham game too.cafc_se7 said:I am by no means supporting NJ here so please don’t shoot me down. Not sure Edwards is that vital. We weren’t playing good football when Ramsay was fit eithercafc_se7 said:I am by no means supporting NJ here so please don’t shoot me down. I thunk Small is more important to the team than Edwards.

I'd play Edwards where Gillesphey has been playing.6

We’re playing the worst football the valley has ever seen, have only managed to beat bottom placed Burton (who had 10 men) in the last 8 league games & are on track to repeat our ‘lowest finish for 98 years’ record but the owners do not see any immediate concern??

We are struggling against some of the poorest sides in the division, so if i was them i'd be extremely concerned about what will happen when the fixture list turns and we face the better sides.1 -
I think Gavin Carter’s new role suggests they have concerns but expect they don’t want to keep sacking managers. We’d likely end up with an appointment part way through the transfer window which isn’t ideal.Oh Eddie Youds... said:We’re playing the worst football the valley has ever seen, have only managed to beat bottom placed Burton (who had 10 men) in the last 8 league games & are on track to repeat our ‘lowest finish for 98 years’ record but the owners do not see any immediate concern??0 -

Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in our fortunes very soon, I will be amazed if Methven, Rodwell and Scott are still at Charlton come the start of next season.
