  • I feel really sorry for Allan Campbell. He's not been great, but I really don't think he's been that much worse than the rest of the team, particularly today.

Tactics were atrocious and individual performances were poor across the board. Not sure a scapegoat is fair when it is so poor across the whole squad and management.
Tbh bar the shot he fluffed i thought today was one of his better performances but still not good enough. He is like Johnnie Williams (who i was never a fan of) as he is very light weight but unlike Williams he donest have any technical ability from what I can see.

One bright note I thought Kanu looked good for a player coming back in to a team with zero structure

I don't feel for sorry for Allan Campbell no. In fact I don't feel sorry for any of them. Couldn't give a toss, and that shows every time they put a charlton shirt on with the league 1 emblem on the side of the shirt

A final point, do the owners not see the VAST empty spaces in the stadium? People aren't turning up.....why should they when the 'fare' dished up is pure crap!!
Surely the Yanks, should be getting shot of at least the money grabing SMT....they've failed in everything they've done so far!
Get Curbs in as DoF, if the owners want to keep Jones, give him a proper football person to report to....not Scott!! FFS!
I can't remember the last time in my 65 yrs of supporting this club I've been so pissed off!
    Night!
  • never seen an entire team play “hoof ball” for 96 minutes, utter garbage!

What a total pile of steaming excrement that was!! It's obvious Jones hasn't got a clue. No width, no creativity, just hoof it anywhere. There are many poor players and recruitment has been Woeful. I'm surprised Adadme is a professional footballer. He is useless. Please go Jones, Scott and Methven.

Brought my mate tonight who is a Chelsea fan, he’s been before and couldn’t believe how bad we are! No attack or defence was his summary of our team 😂
Assume he was impressed with our midfield!
If he locates our midfield let us know
Its located 30 ft below the flightpath of the balls hoofed in the general direction of downfield.

The nice thing about Charlton Life is we are always supportive of fellow Addicks and celebrate their achievements

Take a bow Rob Elliot  :)

That was pretty bad, not pleased I dragged my arse up there on a cold Tuesday evening for that.  I've heard boos before but that ... oof ... I don't think I've ever heard it that loud or length of time.  I felt sorry for some of them being forced to pretend to applaud the crowd over a deafening roar of disapproval if I'm honest.  I'm not a boo-er myself but I certainly wouldn't knock anyone for it after that.

Crawley deserved it.  As someone who  grew up there, they've come a long way from the Town Mead days.  I was hoping they stay up as it's a convenient away day, but I think my hopes might be better directed at our own team.
  • Hadn't really clocked it but we had 3 ex players against us and their manager too. Charlie Barker bossed our forwards. Another one we let go out who never got a chance. What a joke. All we are left with are hodcarriers.

The event for Kevin Nolan was a disgrace.
Those who run the club, fuck off.
    What was the event Seth?
Oh man it saddens me in the extreme to mention it. There was an (understandably) half hearted appeal from Brian Cole, just before the crossbar challenge for some applause for Kevin Nolan whilst his picture was put up on the screen.
I would bet my life somebody somewhere decided that is what we should do, and told poor old Brian Cole to do it. I could tell BC hated it as much as the rest of us, well those of us not half timing for a piss or a pie, and I would also bet that whoever made the decision wasn't even out of the boardroom to see it anyway.
I am sorry Kevin. As a long time fan I dearly wanted the chance to pay a decent tribute to you at the Valley, if not today then soon. I even expected black armbands on the players today.
I don't suppose a long time fan of Oxford United gives much of a damn about our club.

Does make me laugh when a few people post that Crawley were not very good. What does that make us? They were seen as relegation fodder. Now 3 points behind us. We played hoofball today. They passed the ball around, tried to play football. We were absolute garbage, they thoroughly deserved their win. Can't see where we go from here. Jones has to go, what is the point in extending the inevitable. He's lost the plot, maybe the team too, go now.

Probably the worst Charlton team ever.

Definitely the worst Charlton manager ever.
Steady on, Appleton and Fraeye were definitely worse.
To be fair, Appleton is a sub-human mutant and Fraeye came from the 36th division in Belgium, we knew they were going to be shit. Getting Jones in seemed a coup at the time - I don’t think anybody expected him to be this useless.

Likewise, AMB isn’t the problem in this team and was getting booed quite heavily for poor distribution. He has his issues but continually gets scapegoated and the entire team couldn’t get their distribution right. Could say the same for Ahadme, continually scapegoated whilst playing in a system that doesn’t suit him at all and whilst Leaburn is playing no better.

Regarding A.Campbell-  One thing i find hard to excuse in any professional is blazing a nicely set up ball, no defenders within a few yards, high and wide from inside the box when your team need a goal. Harsh perhaps but paid good money, to do that?

Think we got the system wrong first half and we never really recovered from  it not sure why we changed from Saturday but it was clear it was not working ..and changes should have been made after 30 mins… but you can’t plan for a individual error AMB  got to better for their second ..
More than an individual error, where were the midfield, where were the defence. Ultimately AMB was responsible but the rest were culpable? At least AMB made a great double save earlier!

Our midfield is identical cov Tay camp Godden isnt a midfielder he was shattered for the second goal and couldn’t get back. Our second choice keepers shite our third choice right backs shite, our reserve centre backs shite. How we miss Dobson not one of our current midfield could do what he did for this team. (We can go better players maybe) but we and jones know he set the tempo for the team last season and we haven’t replaced that.

I was going to post similar. It was frankly a disgrace. Shoehorned in just before the crossbar challenge with most either having a wee, a drink or just not paying attention. Shame on whoever decided that was fitting. RIP Kevin.

I really don't want another new manager. I do think the main reason why we have been so bad on the pitch over the last few season is a lack of consistency in this area.

However I think Jones does need to go. Sticking to this long ball football is absolutley mental. The players are clearly told that this is the tactic and it's so boring to watch and you could forgive it if it was getting results but it isn't.

I also think Scott needs to go. His job is so important in this era of football and he has made the wrong calls on manager choice/ player transfers far to many times now.

If Jones & Scott are kept on and they turn things around then I will be happy to have been proven wrong but I just don't think that is going to happen.

I have been supporting Charlton since the early 2000s so not as long as some of you. Bar a couple of good seasons in the Prem and the promotion seasons in League One we have been largely awful. That being said I have never felt less interested about going to a Charlton game as I have this season. The thing I have found the most frustrating is having to watch players clearly not putting effort in only to hear the manager say that this is the beginnig of a new era and that they are the most hard working individuals he has ever worked with. No matter whether we win lose or draw his team will never leave the field without putting 100% in. That interview Jones did after the FA Cup game on Saturday seems so cringe now after tonights efforts.

I am normally really positive. I will also hold up my hands and say that at the start of the summer I thought Jones was going to get us into the playoffs at least. When he didn't sign an attacking midfielder or any wingers I did start to get a bit worried but still thought he had a plan. Turns out he does but it is just a terrible one.

Also one last thing. Right at the end of the game Mitchell took a throw in it was in extra time so he needed to be quick. There was no options near him and Taylor the closest player to him looked at him and walked away rather than giving him an option. When Mitchell shouted at him he looked so unbothered. This shit really pissed me off. We're 2-1 down in a game we should be winning. Have some pride.

Long rant over sorry. Just needed to get this off my chest. Wish I was in a pub with someone debriefing, that was a truely awful performance tonight.

Do they still have strippers in pubs these days?

Abject nonsense throughout with unforced errors, misplaced passes and lobbed balls to nowhere.

A modicum of skills is required.  Beat someone and pass - along the grass - preferably to a teammate who has moved into space.  Is this too much to ask?  Please! We are not playing Brazil, this is Crawley and we are on our own hallowed turf at the Valley!

Tonight has been a humiliation.  To whoever holds the purse strings please make it stop.  There is so much goodwill out there for our club, but you need to realise it and make it happen.  Get rid of the verbose charlatans taking your money and bring in people who'll do the job.

Jones will be gone before the next transfer window shuts, with a handsome payoff too.

We will sell Miles, Kanu and TC and be left with the shite he bought last summer.

Thats our club under these fooking clowns.

He answers the questions for them in his questions so all the gotta do is ‘yeah….’.

    Total let off.
  • I thought Crawley tried to play football and Camara showed glimpses of his past with some driving runs in the first half.  But, ultimately they are a really poor L1 team that will take some proper hidings this season IMO.
Amazingly, we were still the second best team on display, we weren't unfortunate to lose, we deserved it.  Wolacott, a below average L1 keeper hadn't a save to make all night.  The front line was tepid. Our tactics were shameful.  Our effort was laughable.
Yet another season written off before Christmas from any positive thoughts and yet again we all look behind us and hope we can scramble enough points to stay ahead of teams like Crawley, Cambridge, Shrewsbury etc.
Scott and Rodwell need binning, so does Jones.  Whether a new manager can be found who is any good and whether they can get a tune from a poor looking squad who knows.  But change is needed now.

Looking at the way sulky Leaburn walked through the first half without putting an ounce of effort in , i wouldn't be surprised if Jones has lost the dressing room.
or just except Leaburn is not as good after the injury as before.
