Would be very easy to cut and paste the post match summary from any one of our recent league games.
15 mins of huff and puff, midfield disappears, opposition score and we start punting it to no one. Get back into it, goal keeping howler and our manager responds by bringing strikers off and defenders on.
Jones is managing like a spoilt brat, he thinks he knows best and it is everyone else who is wrong. He has no clue, no tactics and no game plan. The performances he is getting out of this squad of players are disgraceful. These are his players, we were told they were his choices and he still serving up disjointed, pathetic anti football hoofball week after week.
I actually think the money men might intervene here and sack Jones over the heads of Rodwell and Co.
I don't think I can watch anymore of this. Someone said on the match thread that it was like self harming, it is worse than that imo. Self harm has (however strange it might seem to others) a point to it.
How can the coaching staff justify putting Leaburn out there? He looked so far from fit tonight it was farcical.
It would be interesting to see how many times we put more than 3/4 forward passes together tonight. I don't believe it would be many. The long punts and diaganal hoofs are under instruction and for that to be a manger's sole tactic in this day and age is quite frankly embarassing. You could sort of understand the diagonal balls if we had someone who could run the channels in the side - we don't though and we are so narrow that you could thread our midfield through the eye of a needle.
I allowed myself to think results were turning and that we were a little unlucky at Huddersfield, but I am no longer buying it. We beat Bromely reserves, struggled past an utterly woeful 10 man Burton and beat Walsall reserves. The league results and performances are nowhere near good enough. I would go as far as to say I cannot remember the last time a Charlton team has served up such consistently appalling dross week after week.
There is no sign of improvement, it's getting worse by the week. The players haven't bought into the tactics either. Given that we were told we would be athletic and aggressive this season it is quite alarming how many times we watch our midfield blowing out of their arses from 75 mins.
Other than hystreonics there is no leadership from the touch line and a complete lack of leaders on the pitch.
I have said in previous weeks and will say it again, we are not a couple of players away from the top 6, we are miles away, 5 or 6 players imo.
If the board don't act now the season will be gone (it might well be already) and we are at real risk of getting sucked into yet another scrape with relegation.
Crawley dominated our midfield. They have players who are happy on the ball, and can run with it. They looked a league above our clodhoppers. It was the same at Crawley a couple of years back.
This really is a new low, as others have said.
The only plus was that they closed the gates on them just as they reached the station. Sadly, we had to listen to them singing for ten minutes.
Started off ok but as soon as the goal went in we didn't have a clue. Kanu got on the end of Gas's knock down and we were undeservedly back in it, then comes AMB's howler and please no one tell it was a rocket shot it wasn't, he could have almost caught it. Something else going on tonight though, certain players body language ! Leaburn, Tyreece Campbell and Thierry Small, I think they have lost belief in what Nathan Jones is trying to do and they are not alone. I'm convinced Jones doesn't know how to set up a side to attack, all sorts of formations tried and he even tried to introduce width in the second half but with the same result, no passing, just a hopeful lump forward. Jones stated we didn't need Alfie May and that losing some big players has contributed to our bad form, both statements are being found out. He needs to go in my opinion.
If we are going to get a new manager, why not somebody like Robbie. Young, hungry and knows the club. That is the template that works for us historically.
Folk on here calling for Dixon. There were plenty calling for Taylor when he wasn’t playing. Now he is, is it any better?
I don’t think Dixon is the answer..
I'm not necessarily calling for Dixon but the one thing he could offer is a RW which would allow us to play TC LW and play 4-2-3-1 with Coventry and Taylor holding. Don't ask who plays the 10 I don't know. That's a big part of the problem though, we don't have a 10 or any creativity at the front of midfield.
Do I think that will work? Probably not unless we completely change how we play.
Tactically inept…total hoof ball is not going to win matches. The players must be pissed off with this mantra of boot it up to the strikers. It must strike home of the very low percentage of winning the ball and it’s going to come back on to the defenders and midfield to win the ball back and then hoof it back. It’s truly awful to watch and surely NJ must realise this and change tactics. If not he must go! Its embarrassing!
Jones is toast........... it's been broken since his quote about walking away and letting someone else do it if they wanted. Utter garbage, I wish someone would have a stand up row with him at his press conference and then say I wish your team had that same fight in them when he reacts to type.
I can’t see anyway back from this. It’s not just the results ! The performances are inept and NJ isn’t going to change. I have a feeling that there is a milwall fan somewhere who broke into NJ’s bedroom one night pretending to be God with a message that if he sets up to play aimless long balls to nobody then he will be rewarded with success! It’s beyond comprehension now. Pundits, commentators, fans in fact everyone can see the issues except it seems the manager. The worst football I have seen in over 50 years of supporting this club and like a lot have said I’m nearly done with it now I’m so angry 😡
Enough is enough. We have a lovely pitch and Nathan doesn't appear to want the players to play the ball on the grass.
In what football world can 3 slow central strikers work in the starting 11 ?
I don't say anything in the post match thread that I don't say at the beginning.
Nathan Jones was in the last chance saloon when he got the Charlton gig after Stoke and Saints but this is shocking football and we are in a terrible rut.
Nathan Jones must own the style or lack of style of this team.
I actually thought Campbell was our most hard working player in the first half and probably the only one on the pitch that look like he wanted to battle. That to me shows what the rest of the team were like.
Leaburn, Edwards shocking. Godden invisible. Taylor, Cov, Gas poor
What's wrong with Leaburn, guess one of the following: 1: not match fit 2: carrying an injury 3: fed up with playing in a crap team 4: has lined up a move and doesn't want to get injured
The we can’t keep changing manager argument doesn’t fly with me. No manager gets a free pass cos of previous managers. It comes from SMT needing to learn from mistakes. I had high hopes for Jones and didn’t think it was a bad appointment but we have to cut ties.

Regret wasting my tenner watching from France.
And that's before I mention Brownie's interminable verbal diarrhea
He did nothing all night.
No pace
No patterns of play
No width
No real shape
Hope for a knock down or a Terry Taylor set piece
We are embarrassing and have been mostly for three months now.
SMT and manager have to go
Do I think that will work? Probably not unless we completely change how we play.
someone from NL or League 2, who is on the rise.
non of these journey man experienced managers.
bring someone in who is progressive
This whole club is in serious need of some fresh ideas

no thought not……
1: not match fit
2: carrying an injury
3: fed up with playing in a crap team
4: has lined up a move and doesn't want to get injured
I reckon 4 with a bit of 3
