What's wrong with Leaburn, guess one of the following: 1: not match fit 2: carrying an injury 3: fed up with playing in a crap team 4: has lined up a move and doesn't want to get injured
Get Terry off the interviews ffs. A totally pointless exercise when he does them
I know we are all pissed off, but Terry ‘works’ for the club, the interviews are to create social media content for the club. It’s for journalists to take NJ to task in the press room, not club people for club content.
Rob Elliot seems a young and hungry manager. It's now becoming like Groundhog Day, start OK, goes downhill, sack manager. I would hate to think how much we have spent on getting rid of Adkins, Garner, Holden and Appleton so God forbid what it would cost to get rid of the present incumbent with a 4 year deal. Said all along that if we get the Luton Jones, fine, if we get the Stoke/Soton version may be a wee bit different. There are so many people that could and should be held accountable for the current malaise, as the slippery slide descends again. Jones got us out of a mess last season, don't lose first, win a bonus but that has continued into this season. The table doesn't lie, reflects where we are now. No further forward. Jones will be the initial fall guy, but somehow there are people that remain in post despite the monumental porridge that was Dobson's contract and the stage managed exit of May. If only we knew who actually who makes decisions at the top level. This is now painful. 08:06 to Lincoln from Kings Cross on Saturday morning...
It was an aimless and lacklustre performance - we were far too narrow in the first half and the raft of substitutions in the second only served to make us even more disjointed. After Kanu's equaliser, it looked as if we might build some momentum but it was not to be. Crawley realised we had nothing to offer other than repeated long balls, managed to craft a late, soft winner and never looked like conceding an equaliser.
Despite their very modest resources and poor recent away record (two draws and five defeats), Crawley played by far the better football, finding their men with ease and moving the ball nicely through the lines. In contrast, we continued to hoof the ball forward aimlessly in the manner to which we have now, sadly, become accustomed.
The only positives of the evening were the return of Lloyd Jones and Daniel Kanu. It was also good to see Rob Elliot back at The Valley. He'll be well pleased with his team's performance and justifiably so.
I really have no idea of where we go from here, although that future (certainly beyond the current season) is clearly not going to include Nathan Jones and his lamentable tactics. The best we can hope for in this campaign is to try and consolidate our mid to lower mid-table status, which is a desperate state of affairs for a club of our size and resources.
One of the worst performances and worst teams (squads) I have seen in nearly 40 years of supporting Charlton.
Massive change required, not only with the manager but the SMT as well, the money men need to step in.
Start the rebuild for next year now, or another year will be lost. Carry on like this and the only ‘excitement’ we will have is a relation battle, which we may lose on tonight’s performance.
I honestly dont know what to say. That was shocking from the 1st minute to the end.. There is no potential no optimism nothing.i dont have the answers but all I know is it wont get better until some changes are made uter shite
Rob Elliot has the makings of a future Charlton manager, sometimes the future comes quickly!
only if he insists in playing just the one style of football and has no clue about man-management or recruitment. No doubt thats something he could learn.
I’ve very much been of the opinion that we can’t keep sacking managers so consistently, I thought that Jones would turn it around given time but that was absolutely terrible.
I hope we’re sounding out potential candidates from tomorrow.
You have to wonder how interested the owners are. Do they watch this shit? Exactly how much do they care? Someone needs to tell them the SMT are letting us and them down and need to go now. If only a Charlton fan had direct access to them and the gumption to tell them how it is.
The standards at this club are appalling. It’s all linked, and at HT when we took part in the period of applause for Kevin Nolan, I could see Jason Pearce, Aneke and a few others, completely ignore it and just carry on chatting among themselves
I appreciate Pearce was always 110% effort when he wore the shirt, but I expect better of him, and it literally sums up the modern day footballer imo. Overpaid, especially at this level, they are after all, league one footballers, which is a pretty crap standard, and certainly he and Aneke either are, or should be aware of Kevin as he’s sat in that press room for years.
It might not mean much in the bigger scheme of things, but to me it highlights the lack of standards. We had a much stronger culture under Curbs etc, it’s just been eroded steadily

I get that, but at least get him some media training then. Every question is too long winded and he answers it himself half the time.
I've seen us lose to lower opposition many times - it's been a Charlton habit for years - but have I ever seen us outbattled, out-thought and outplayed in such a way? I'm not so sure; and most of it is down to the style of play.
Jones changed the system three or four times during the game but it had no effect whatsoever as the hoofball style continued. On the occasions we did put in a cross we looked dangerous but with that team and that style those occasions were rare indeed.
What do they do on the training ground? Hoof the ball from one end of the pitch to another where the so-called strikers attempt to head it or run on to it? That's what it looks like. Passing? That part of the game appears to have been forgotten about, unless it's backwards!
We were fortunate against Burton and could quite easily have lost that one. I don't know where we go from here. It's not good.
My real concern this season is that we've allowed our only two very good players, who were also our only consistent players, to leave the club.
What makes this season worse than all the other terrible league 1 years, is that we don't have a single player that can give us any hope.
Even the bright sparks are inconsistent or have faced injuries (Jones and Leaburn). We don't have a May, or a Dobson, or a Holmes. I could mention many more. I have real fears that the only way is down from last season.

I really don't think this set up works like many assume. I don't believe this mob have got much skin in the game tbh. They're clever people who have clubbed together on a bit of a punt that really isn't going to scratch the surface on their wealth. They've let Methven run with it. If it works, great. If it doesn't then that's on him and they'll be off.
They'll have carefully pre-negotiated their ways out of this should inevitably go tits. The money's been spent. It clearly hasn't been worth it and I believe Methven will be left holding the baby.
That Alan Campbell was our most effective midfielder speaks volumes. Our hoof-ball is so awful. If I wasn't a season ticket holder, I wouldn't go. Kanu took his chance well. Not much else to add.
As for hoof ball, it wasn’t very good hoof ball. Rather than hitting long over their defenders, we chipped / lobbed it with no pace towards our forwards who then tried to nod it on. It wasn’t working, but they kept repeating it.
Supporters need to wise up. I have said for a long time that this club is in an absolute mess and it will take more than bringing in a few players to put it right. Relegation is a real possibility. We are that bad. Owners don't care and will soon pull out. Smt are a joke and will be gone soon. Jones is a dinosaur and does not understand that football has moved on. Hopefully he will go tomorrow. The players are a hopeless bunch of hoofers who will not be here next season. The famous revolving door will begin in January. Supporters are almost gone. There is no love for the club. Please stop talking about close to the play offs or Coventry is decent or we just need a new manager. Stop being delusional and realise that we are in very deep sewage.
There’s plenty of love for this club, just not for this current iteration.
I think Jones probably has some credit in the bank in the eyes of the SMT after the cup wins and Burton away, so I dont he will get sacked before our next couple of games. Fail to win any of the remaining games in December though and surely he will be gone by new year.

Crawley hadn't won away since the 17th August.

Aneke and whoever else it was can all do one
