Here is the proof that May is a better player.RonnieMoore said:May hardly getting starts now even in cup matches .. he won’t be next season especially if they go up … Godden a far better all

However if Godden is the better player and was also cheaper.
How come Birmingham went for May rather than Godden?0 -
You've disagreed by agreeing... The 10 plays behind the striker... And when they play in a twin 10 position, Alfie's usually on the left side of that. Did I say something different? My suggestion of self-awareness went seemingly amiss.Garrymanilow said:
Not quite true. Even when he's behind Stansfield he's usually played as a 10 either on his own or in a twin 10s formation. He might pull wide but he's not playing on the left, he's in a central role.Chunes said:The revisionism on May's ability is sky high at the moment. May has been playing on the left behind Stansfield for most of the season so the goal comparisons aren't going to reveal much.
I'm not going to dig people out but there are one or two who have spent years spilling reams rationalising every poor decision the club makes. I don't know if they have noticed, but they haven't made many good decisions, and that's why we are where we are.0 -

Never mind the argument alert, we need an irony alert thread! I will leave you to yourself Chunes, crack on etc0 -
Do you think it's realistic to reply to everything you write in your posts? They are meandering and in block paragraphs, which many posters have mentioned to you, and often with affectionGarrymanilow said:Chunes said:

We're all on here to share opinions, it's not always intolerable if someone disagrees.
But at the end of the day, time is a great judge. And I'm happy to stand by what I've said over the years.
Are you?3 -

And how are the “best players” ultimately judged?PopIcon said:

Really like Matty Godden. Aside from his Charlton connections he’s also a ‘proper’ footballer in the Gary Nelson mould. Hope he stays fit for the season.
I liked May too.A controversial thought but you can like both.21 -
Not controversial at all. I must have written it at least 5 times, while lamenting Jones demagogic approach to May which saw him leave.Valley11 said:Really like Matty Godden. I'm not going to dig people out but there are one or two who have spent years spilling reams and massive paragraphs rationalising decisions the club have made, even when they were poor decisions. The reason we have been rubbish for ages is because of those decisions. If you once preached about how Innis was good enough for top 6 L1, or how Stockley was the right player to play lone striker, an ounce of self-awareness wouldn't go amiss.0 -

He’s a streaky goalscorer and when he can’t find the net, he can’t find the net.
It might be next weekend that he starts another run of 6 goals in 5 games but until then they’ll keep playing other strikers that are actually making an impact on the field. Because they can afford to drop him and we couldn’t.

Has he caught back up with Godden now then?0

Can't be easy being the 3rd striker.....but he now has 7 which is just one less than our SIX strikers (Godden, Ahadme, Leaburn, Aneke, Campbell & Kanu) have between them.11 -
No. He now has 7. Godden has 5.Weegie Addick said:Has he caught back up with Godden now then?0 -
I said before the season started that Alfie would score more than any combination of two of our strikers, I still stand by itgolfaddick said:
