116-112?? Not sure about that at all0

Usual rubbish scoring. Beterbiev by 4, I don't think so.0
-
By 4? Hmm...
Must have judged on walking forwards rather than actual punches landed.0 -

Bivol robbed there. Of course Beterbiev is going to have favoritism in Saudi.0

“This was one of the great fights of the last 20 years I think, but I don't think the result was fair, in my opinion. The two fighters are like my brothers, but I think Bivol won two rounds more. I will focus and I will try to do the rematch."
Personally watching it live i felt Bivol edged it. I can't see how he didn't win at least 6 rounds so a draw at worst and no way he should've lost. In a close fight though it only needs a couple of judges to score a couple of rounds the other way and a 7-5 Bivol becomes a 7-5 Beterbiev. The 116-112 scorecard seems very harsh though. Also looking at the fighters reactions at the end i felt like Beterbiev thought he'd lost, looked a bit dejected standing in his corner.
Full credit to Bivol though, he didn't moan, said he's not making excuses, just accepted it and said we move on and wants a rematch.
Overall it's a shame there's controversy as i thought it was an incredible fight, one of the best i've seen in recent years and they have to do it again.2 -
It was a great fight two men who are genuinely elite at what they do, doing what they do. I felt Bivol won but I'm not going to get on the judges backs too much. Its the problem with scoring fights being totally subjective to the individual judge and the fuckers don't tell anyone what they like to see. For 2 of them clearly it was whoever finished the round strong gets the nod, I dont think that's fair or how to score a fight else the fights would be 12 x 25 second rounds.
I didnt see it live but watched back the Wardley v Clarke fight, a proper finish that but think for a second or ten. Fabio Wardley was on the circuit of white collar boxing, imagine coming up against that wrecking ball when you were just trying to fulfill a lifes goal and raise a few quid for charity on the downtime from your day job5 -
Even though I slightly fancied Beterbiev to win on points and was prepared to put a score on it, I felt Bivol won by at least 3 rounds. Not complaining mind.

Currently watching the title fight from Japan on sky, and the co-main event had open scoring so the corners and commentators can see who's winning throughout the fight.
That would definitely have changed Bivol's approach to the last 2 rounds last night.0 -
Confirmed that Fraser Clarke had surgery last night to repair a broken jaw. No surprise when you saw the state of his face after the knockdown.0

Catterall v Prograis has ended up being a pretty decent scrap0

Have just finished watching a four part tv documentary “Four Kings”. Recommended for anyone interested in a look back at the “heyday” of British boxing. The Four Kings are
Chris Eubank and his rivalry with Nigel Benn
Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis
Only Lennox appeared to come out of his boxing career and not run into the huge problems of the other three.2 -
I almost feel embarrassed to raise this subject on this thread...
but Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.
WTF? Is this the same Jake Paul that lost to Tommy Fury?
How on earth is Paul favourite?
Granted Tyson is in his late 50s, they are using bigger, softer gloves, only 8 x 2 min rounds...
but surely it only takes Tyson one punch to do Paul some damage?
But then listening to Billy Joe Saunders on Talksport yesterday lunchtime, he says anyone thinking Tyson will be able to cope with 8 x 2 min rounds is off their rocker.
Now looking at becoming the biggest ever PPV event in America. Like seriously WTF.
Will it be competitive?
I have to admit I wont be rushing to watch it.0 -

It's going to be live on Netflix which has over 280 million subscribers worldwide so unless there are tons of people out there who don't have an account and are desperate to sign up, i'd imagine 99% of people who do watch it won't be paying anything 'extra' to see it.0

It's an incredibly sad day, last time I stayed up to watch a Tyson fight, I was 15 and he was banging people out in seconds. I really hope it's not fixed.0

If there was a god, Tyson would give Paul some serious brain damage and end this nonsense of wanky streamers/youtubers getting involved in boxing.2

Shame for boxing as a sport of course but this sort of shit has been coming honestly.1 - Sponsored links:

Would be great if Tyson can bang him out in the first round. I think this fight is only even a thing because there's the chance that "Tyson only needs 1 punch to KO him".
In reality though i expect after an initial flurry, Tyson will gas out (even with 2 minute rounds) and Paul will beat him later on. It was just a couple of years ago that Tyson was pictured in a wheelchair with sciatica.0 -
Mike Tyson is a fucking convicted rapist remember that????0

And people wonder why he doesn't want 'real' fights. Why would you if you're earning more than every current pro boxer except Canelo, Fury and Usyk.
Bivol and Beterbiev both got a guaranteed $10m for their recent fight and they're 2 of the best in the world.1 -
Depending on what time it's shown over here, I'll be watching and rooting for Iron Mike to smash him good & proper.0

Not getting up at 4am given I’m at Kasabian but hope Tyson absolutely batters him in round 2.
let him think in round 1 he’s got half a chance and then destroy him1 -
I think it’ll be a set up draw…but would love to see Mike smash him up.
