    Saga lout, poster on here for many years is playing with his band: 'Rayband' at the 20th Century Speedway in Folkestone. One of two bands, on the 2nd November. The other band are the excellent Noel Redding Experience: 'Two thirds of freak flag' who play Hendrix, Cream, Free etc.
    The concert is to celebrate the opening of the Noel Redding Project exhibition at the town hall in Folkestone, something I have been working on to get a statue for Noel who was born in Folkestone, and came down with Hendrix to play just before the release of 'Hey Joe' (see my log in avatar above)'.
    See 2 great bands for FREE, an hours drive down the M20. If you like it give a donation to the designated bucket collectors. 
    The exhibition opens on the 5th November to 31st January, every day except Bank holidays and Sundays, I will be there some Fridays, and I have a few images on display, as other local artists, as well as LP's etc it is also FREE. 
    Always music going on in Folkestone, come and have a day at the Seaside. Hope you do not mind the 'plug'!

    Forgot about this thread! Saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor last week at the troxy, in advance if their new album. Awful venue in terms of being able to see anything, but great gig

    I was certainly (ahem) in the older half of the audience but I thought The Last Dinner Party were superb. Abigail Morris has real stage presence.

    They are my favourite band right now. Have seen them a fair bit live, including their original Dinner Party incarnation. They need a second smash album next year to 2026 latest. Venues like the Apollo will turn into Arenas at that point. 

    Am lobbying for them to be nominated at the Ivors next year for Prelude to Ecstasy. That No1 album had the biggest opening week of sales for any album in a decade - nuff said!

    Saw both Tindersticks and Camera Obscura while in Berlin last week - both fantastic.

    Last night saw Memorials at the Lexington, who were a bit disappointing - one track dragged out for a painful 20 minutes...

    The Pretenders at The Palladium last night.
    Chrissie Hynde sounds as good as ever.
    But they only played 5ish of their/her best songs.
    Disappointed 5/10.

    Have a run of Daddy/Daughter gigs coming up - Soft Play (formerly Slaves) at Brixton Academy on 31/10, Bob Vylan at Electric Brixton on 7/11, Amyl and the Sniffers at The Round House on 14/11 and Fontaines DC at Alexandra Palace on 22/11. My ears are going to take a serious kicking!

    Zaho de Zagazan at The Forum on Monday. Although all the songs were in French, apart from one David Bowie cover, it was still a great evening. Even the support band,PAMELA, were pretty good.

    Lankum at the Apollo last night had one of the worst behaved crowds I have ever witnessed.  Fidgetty people, always getting up to get another beer or go the the loo, loads of whooping and hollering at the most inappropriate times during really atmospheric music.  So annoying I would have left early but for my wife pleading to stay.

    Have got tickets for the Cure at The Troxy tomorrow evening...can't wait...missed their last tour as had bought a standing ticket for Wembley and then had my hips replaced 2 weeks before the show and so had to sell it on...this 'should' make up for that, as hadn't missed a tour/chance to see them in I don't know how many years before that...

    Presumably will play a lot of the new album, but it's got really good reviews anyway.
    Last couple of times I saw them, they've played for 3 hours non stop.

    I've seen them a few times and they always give 100%. I've found they attract a fair amount of idiots though.

    Peter Doherty has done well to get off the smack.
    He may be a tubster these days, but he's better that way.

    I enjoyed watching Iron n Wine at Birmingham Town Hall . Sam Beam has great presence , the band particularly the drummer / percussionist were brilliant and the live shadow puppeteers providing the visuals really added to the gig.

    Soft Play at Brixton Academy with my daughter last night. I thought the Academy had re-opened with a limited capacity? Seems not, the standing area was ridiculous, absolutely rammed and other than the bar out the back you couldn't move. I don't ever remember the Academy being as hot as it was last night either - people were dripping before the band even came on! Sound was atrocious (far too quiet) and an absolute festival of knobheads. Daughter loved it though so all good.

    Yeah, leaving was nuts. Couple of people got pissed off and forced the fire exit open (handily I was standing right next to it). Getting out through that bar was a huge crush.

    Well, that was absolutely bloody awesome....and the whole gig is up on Youtube for those who are interested... Hadn't been to Troxy before..lack of sloping stalls a slight issue for a shortarse like myself, but (just about) managed to see as well as hear them.. Think that makes about the 20th time I've seen them in the last 40 years..just superb.

    Saw Gillan/Deep Purple last night at the O2. What a voice.  And was mighty impressed with the Support band "Reef" too
