Smart catch by Duckett but looks like he’s done some damage, who opens with Crawley if he can’t?

Rumour has it that England has got back to the changing rooms to find Pope only has him and Crawley in it

Root should volunteer as he's the senior batsman.
But he won't budge from batting at 4.

Would be a laugh seeing Brook smash it around for a bit but probably wouldn’t go well

And as a result those are the two that are opening

Did someone question why we haven't taken another opener on this tour?

They can but, potentially, they will be getting off the plane and straight into the team, having not picked up a bat in anger for weeks and certainly not in these conditions. Part of being on tour is to do just that especially as we don't have many that jump off the page for the job. It's a missed opportunity for England and that person albeit that Cox might have to now end up doing that job.

And there goes Pope to a fantastic one handed catch by Jamal at midwicket

Root might just as well have opened

Looks like Root might not have a choice but to be batting in the second over of the innings!

    Well done Pope.

Said we'd find different ways of getting out on a flat track. Might have been a brilliant catch but first ball ???

If they get Root out before the close I can see us getting bowled out for less than 250

Not sure you can criticise Pope for that, 99/100 that isn’t caught and if you attack the short ball early you remove it as a weapon for the attack
  • Pakistan number 8 gets an unbeaten century.

    Smith misses a simple stumping.

    Atkinson drops a dolly.

Duckett out injured catching the last one of their innings.

Pope out to an amazing catch.

Yes but apart from that, how has your day been?

That inside edge saved Root because the only place the ball would have missed would have been under the stumps

What an absolute road of a wicket.
You would like to think it will be a draw, but England don't do draws these days.
So as others have said, I expect us to smash the ball in the air and get ourselves out and most likely lose.
I’m somewhat behind, but just seen Pope hit in the air and out for 0.
    Pathetic.

96-1 (20) at close and 460 runs behind

    Crawley 64* (64)
    Root 32* (54)
  • Nice knock by Crawley, after the nightmare few minutes for the 3 Surrey boys. Hopefully Duckett can bat tomorrow.

Important context that he’s coming back from injury and has spent basically 2 days in the field in intense heat too. Seriously impressive.

Duckett not being sent for a scan apparently, so fingers crossed (no pun intended) he'll be OK.

How annoyed would you be if you were Rahul Dravid who missed out on on 3rd place in the all time rankings by 2 runs (in thousands). Couldn't make it up.
