  • England's weak and underprepared bowling getting carted all over Multan .. the pacemen moving from chilly Bristol to the Multan oven are really suffering
You could have the peak West Indies bowling attack out there and it would make little difference. It's like playing on the M25
Lots of potholes? Might help the spinners
  • What an absolute road of a wicket.
You would like to think it will be a draw, but England don't do draws these days.
So as others have said, I expect us to smash the ball in the air and get ourselves out and most likely lose.
  • 397-6 (112) at lunch
  • England have had as many catches at leg slip in the last four years as all of the other Test playing nations put together in that time
  • I was going to say what a fantastic catch that was from Woakes. To be so off balance, to execute that and have the self-awareness and timing of the situation was absolutely brilliant! And then it's given "not out".
  • (correctly)
  • That was a great bit of bowling from Bashir
  • good fight back from the English bowlers
  • Pakistan could pile on a lot of runs here just going for it
  • A review of hope/desperation

  • 515-8 (138) at tea. Will Pakistan now declare? Unlikely given what happened to them against Bangladesh and the fact that they have lost five on the bounce. Expect fireworks post tea though.

    A cunning plan then.

Zaltzman reckoned that the 100 stand yesterday was only the second Pakistan have managed against England in Pakistan, find that very surprising.
  • Going to be horrible for Zak and Duckett when they bat this evening. Two days under baking sun, with Zak running the miles in the deep, they'll be knackered before they even start batting.

In the 1st Test in the last series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan had an opening stand of 225 and a 4th wicket stand of 123

Equally, how many times in his career has Smith had to keep wicket in heat such as this for 140 plus overs? That really is hard on the body and mind given that, as keeper, he's the only player that is in the game for each and every ball of the innings.

A major Test for him, which is why I've never thought that Smith as a keeper batsman was nailed on for the rest of his England career, until he proved he could score runs after baking in the field.

Yes, I think he got mixed up with most runs per wicket (1-10), there's a list on ESPN.
  • 100* for Salman (108)

  • 549-9 and Pakistan bat on
  • Surprised they haven’t declared here
  • Extraordinary "moo" of pure extravagance from Abrar Ahmed first ball. For no runs,

And there it is. Smith misses an absolute sitter of a stumping.

The Bangladesh defeat and wanting to keep England out there for as long as possible is the driver but Salman should still be now throwing the bat at everything because Abrar isn't lasting long
  • Abrar now dropped by Atkinson

I’d want as long as possible to bowl at England now given how long they’ve been out there. The longer you leave it, the more chance players get to rest overnight

You can take the boy out of Surrey, but you can't take the Surrey out of the boy  ;)
  • 556 all out and Duckett looks likes he's dislocated his thumb taking the catch
  • So who's going to open with Crawley?
