I said when we sold May that Jones would live or die by that decision and if it all went wrong, he'd be gone by Christmas.

Well it's all gone wrong and if there isn't a major improvement soon he'll be gone a lot sooner than Christmas.

I genuinely can't believe he forced May out and replaced him with Ahadme. I said only a few games ago he is a complete dud. Anyone want to try and convince me otherwise tonight?
May would've struggled playing in front of that midfield. Utter dross. Karoy and Berry were shocking. Absolutely no guile and no ideas.
If NJ comes out and says he's angry with the players he's not being honest with himself. He needs to give his head a wobble over that line-up.

Come on @Callumcafc you’ve got some bloody work to do here feller..,.
I’ll get my xG spreadsheet out just for you.
Back of the envelope maths, given the chances created by both sides…

Charlton win tonight’s game ~60 out of 100 times and Bristol Rovers win ~15 out of 100 times.

    :-)
Show us the envelope come on….

We created all our chances when the game was already lost. Got to consider game state when looking at xG. Bristol Rovers didn’t create any chances at the end because they didn’t need too, we desperately threw everything at it because we had nothing to lose. It was a terrible performance and 10 mins of long ball to Aneke creating a few chances doesn’t change that

This started with the unnecessary changes against Blackpool, we went into that game, third in the league, on the back of an away win at Shrewsbury. The changes Jones made that day was to drop Mitchell for REG and Berry for Campbell, neither player has made the pitch since. The captain, Docherty has not started since Blackpool, the wing/full backs have been different in each game and the forwards have not been the same two or three, with the experiment of Campbell as a front player reappearing in desperation. The only players who have been constant is the goal keeper, Lloyd Jones and Coventry, everything else is decided on which side of the bed Nathan Jones gets out of in the morning. We all know that up to the Blackpool game it wasn't pretty but we were bloody hard to beat, every side that Jones has put out since Shrewsbury has been different in formation and personal, which now leaves Jones in the position of not knowing his best side and the players in the position of not knowing who their teammates are in front or behind, from one game to the next, no wonder we are shit.

It didn’t start then. It was always coming, we were atrocious at Shrewsbury too and at reading… the “style” / “system” is awful and has been waiting to be shown up from day one to be quite honest, I hoped it would work but it’s shit, even the very best defences in the world can’t keep clean sheets every single game and if you are completely and utterly fucked and bereft of any tactic or strategy for when you do concede a goal, then any confidence based off that relatively solidity at the back VERY quickly wanes, which we saw at reading and it’s now really coming home to roost properly.

unless jones has the nous to completely alter and reflect on the tactical, formational and overall management style that he has worked on and built up over many years, which I HIGHLY doubt he is, we are f*cked

Our directors will be gutted about this performance as they spend their monthly wage from the American suckers this month.

    What do they do again?

    Another season of failure beckons.

Dont post much on here. Was at the game and it was shocking. No pressing, no control, nothing. It was as bad as a Appleton performance towards the end of his time

A bunch of largely average league one players, with a few average league 2 players will not get you promotion. Now you can mix them around as much as you like. They are just not good enough. We have been misled in believing that these players qualities and abilities that when combined as a team would be a promotion candidate.  Basically it’s just not true….. they are limited players and we are team going nowhere.

Tongue in cheek……but wouldn’t it be just like Charlton if we get a result on Saturday. 🙄

We collectively groaned when we saw the side Jones put out. I believe he can put out a better side. But not sure he will.

We sold Alfie May for this.
According to Charlie, yes we did on the recommendation of Jones
Going by what we know re' recruitment etc., I think the buck for this shit we're in must stop with Jones' promarily, closely followed by his assistants and players. Absolutely abysmal

    Quickest interview ever
  • Fair play to him for having the bollox to front up & apologise.

Just hope he now changes things. No more 352 + that front two pairing please.

i would personally try Small Leaburn & Campbell as a front 3

    Tossers.

Leaburn finally back so might make a difference going forward but that's the only silver lining I can see after that.

I'm getting sacked in the morning by Andy Scott.

I need to sign more of my Luton players

Terry Taylor will only play over my dead body

But he clearly doesn't KNOW what his better side would look like !

On the topic of having one’s “pants pulled down” in connection with our bargain buy from Ipswich, I’ve got three extra family members coming to the Birmingham game on Saturday. Two adults and one child: £88.50!

If you play the formation you need your wingbacks to be like Small and Ramsay, not Edwards and Watson. Of course Small and Ramsay have to be in form but nothing is going to make Watson work. He is too soft without ant redeeming qualities. I am frightened that Jones doesn't know that. Edwards fair enough.

Yes of course that’s true but given the fact that Bristol Rovers created nothing of note themselves until their third goal, I think it’s also fair to say we were extremely unlucky to be 3-0 down in the first place.

And then after scoring a couple ourselves, we’d sat here talking about a point or even all three.

What I saw of tonight wasn’t good enough and the result makes it feel ten times worse. No getting any from it.

Anderson needs to be away from the team for a while and Taylor needs a chance to show what he can offer.

The Campbell up top experiment needs to end, he is a winger. End of. I haven't seen him play but Dixon and Campbell on the wings is a good plan b.

The 2nd and 3rd were so badly defended. Mac needs to be dropped also, he isn't good enough...I'd even look to move him on.

Birmingham up next isn't good but I don't think they are as good as they are made out to be BUT they are a shite site better than us.

As I said before, on the whole, this is a team that should reach play offs but I'm seeing a team low on confidence and bereft of ideas.

Concerning he’s still talking about winning battles and aggression - yes it’s very important, but they also played better football than us. The late goals papered over that.

Pretty horrific result, now 3 losses on the trot with unbeaten Birmingham to come on Saturday.
And I don't fancy us to get anything against Stockport either, could well be 5 losses on the trot.

Made the trip to Bristol. We deserved to be 3-0 down and then I left early.

Awful performance. No real positives of note in the first 70 mins.
Shame you left early. You missed the comeback to end all comebacks. We won 4-3 😉.

Then Barnsley and Wrexham. We could lose 7 in a row. Exeter won't be a pushover after that and then we have Peterborough and Huddersfield. Jones won't see in December

"Jones: "We created enough chances to actually have got something from the game - we shouldn't have got something from the game because we were 3-0 down.

    But we've had the chances.""
