Wasps to share the Valley!

Horse of the year show next 😱
Nay !
Yes, I know we had too many Donkeys show up on our old pitch !0 -
If they bring in folding we would have to consider it. I don't know what sort of crowds they attract, and I would hate what they do to the pitch with their extra markings but we could use the cash. If that happens we may have to look again to moving the women's team, a crowd of under 600 for the weekend WSL game at £6-10 isn't going to be much of a money spinner.0

The limiter to that has always been the pitch and what it can take but if that is resolved it has a logic to it for me. I suppose the next question is can the new improved pitch take more football and Rugby? We haven't seen it over the course of the season yet though of course there is a lot of information about similar pitches.
That will be going straight in the Belgians sky rocket!
We lease the Valley from RD so any income from using it EG weddings, meetings, rugger etc comes to the football club owners.2 -

The Valley is realistically too large for Wasps, they'd need to be in the Premiership to get decent crowds.
In Wales Ospreys are planning to move out of Swansea's ground to their own smaller ground, as it's too large for them.2 - Sponsored links:

Wasps need somewhere to play and if their long term goal is locating to Kent then The Valley does make good sense initially. There’s always Gillingham of course but that neck of the woods is hardly Rugby territory and The Valley has far better transport links than that shithole. Lots of hurdles to jump I’d imagine before it’s even at the negotiation stage.1

I made a comment a few months back when the parking restrictions came in and the rumours about Wasps new stadium came out that I had concerns that with us not owning our stadium that it wouldn’t surprise me if there had been conversations regarding us sharing a new stadium and moving there. No I see this it make me wonder again.0

More importantly will Steve Brown be signing for the new Wasps?!1
-
Not the first time we have shared our pitch with a rugby team and that was no success0
-
So if wasps move in does that mean the pigeons have to go?0
-
Once wasps are in can we move them out or will they have some sort of conservation/protection order on them?3

A few random thoughts
1. Who would Wasps do a deal with, Charlton or the other of the ground?
2. Does Charlton's lease on The Valley give them the right to prevent other businesses also leasing the property?
3. If the lease that Wasps negotiates with the owner means that Charlton get a pro rata discount on the rent, that would be a pretty positive outcome, especially if that discount were put towards investing in the (football) team.
4. What would the reaction be on here if it were announced that Wasps (and a useful amount of cash) were moving in to the Den?
5. I thought The Valley was in London, not Kent.1 -
Is rugby really that big in Kent?0

I think Coventry City fans would tell us not to touch this mob with a bargepole, especially when the lease on the Valley will be up for renewal some time. Cov got booted out of their own leased stadium by Wasps and only managed to get back when they went spectacularly bust.9

Charlton Athletic shouldn't share the valley with a Rugby team as we would be thrown a curveball.2

Realistic chances of Wasps resuming professional rugby in the foreseeable are tiny
IF they shared the Valley at least the extra lines could help out the dismal myopic ignoramus linespeople with their offside guesswork - might help out a few dunderheaded players too
Even if Wasps are looking for a nest in 2025, I'm hoping CAFC will be a Championship side and not needing the money so badly.0 -
Much as I’d like to help out Wasps, there’s no way I could condone “anything whatsoever” that would be detrimental to our success……no matter how minuscule that might be.0
