Think that's probably done, just waiting on the green light from Millwall to announce it.YannTheMann said:Hopefully we are in a position to announce Mitchell today at least0 -

I thought the pitch upgrade was because of the women’s team now playing at the Valley?
Same as St Helens are having their pitch upgraded because Liverpool women will be playing there.
Nothing to do with the new owners.
Just to be clear 🧐8 -
The grant only covers half the costs, and they had to agree to move the women to The ValleyKBslittlesis said:I thought the pitch upgrade was because of the women’s team now playing at the Valley?

The shortfall would have been covered by the lump sum from Sky for showing the EFL games this coming seasonsam3110 said:

It's both I believe. The women's team playing at the Valley means extra grants etc available to get the upgraded pitch but it had still been planned and arranged for even without that.KBslittlesis said:I thought the pitch upgrade was because of the women’s team now playing at the Valley?

(Or so I was lead to believe.)0 -
Bit of both, owners still have to stump up some cash. Plus, supporting the women's team by having them play at a proper stadium with a reliable pitch is a plus point for me.KBslittlesis said:I thought the pitch upgrade was because of the women’s team now playing at the Valley?

So what covers the shortfall on the next 10 seasons of the women's team? Or the loss of revenue through people watching on Sky at home compared to coming to the stadium? It's not "nothing to do with the new owners", it's everything to do with them, regardless of whether that fits people's narrativesshirty5 said:

Why you going off on one? All I have done is mention the cost of the pitch is the grant and the EFL sky moneysam3110 said:

Stop overthinking everything0 -
I'm not overthinking everything, I'm explaining that it's not as simple as the grant and sky money covering it, and therefore people assuming that the new owners haven't contributed in any way, when that's false10

For how long do we refer to the owners as "New"?, they seem to have been around for ages already.0

Back to rumours, Millwall are tweeting about tickets for a preseason game, so hopefully confirmation of Mitchell’s move won’t be far away.14
-
I like the sound of Mitchell and hope it's confirmed soon. Had a quick mooch around the Lincoln forum and found the following
He's our quickest centre back, covers well, strong as an ox and has battling fearlessness. I would say that if you are playing Roughan on the left and one of Jackson/O'Connor he is one of our important three. I wouldn't ideally want to play O'C and Jacko together due to the pace issue.
Mitchell's passing appears to have picked up judging by some of his diagonals recently, and if he can add that consistently he would be a favourable addition; with due acknowledgement to your caveat about cost.
Just 22, already one of the best defenders in L1, must surely be a Championship player in due course. Great attitude and is clearly an intelligent lad too.

So basically he has a bit of a sense of humour, is as hard as nails, gets on with everyone in the team. Sounds like a bit of a character

With those kind of resources we should clearly win automatic promotion.
Otherwise what?0 -

They are all going to participate in the ‘forum’ on Thursday, so we can judge the cut of the jib of our thirty five billionaires.

Anything but promotion is a failure.AberystwythAddick said:
This doesn’t leave any room for the context of a season though? Birmingham and Huddersfield both have serious cash and will likely be the promoted sides, anything can happen in the playoffs with Posh, Rotherham and Bolton all still being here. I don’t think it’s a case that if we don’t get promoted it has been a failure of a season.seth plum said:The way to judge if Jones knows what he is doing is if we secure automatic promotion at the end of the coming season.
OK if we win the playoffs it will be acceptable.
Anything else is failure.12 -

Does it ? Where in the EFL deal does it say that increased revenues for clubs need to be spent on the pitch ? Yes the club got more money from the Sky deal but it was the club that elected to spend it on Stadium infrastructure.shirty5 said:

Have you seen how strong this league is .. there are 10 teams who would expect to be top 6 this season , only 3 spaces to go up !!! that not failureCroydon said:

We have been in this league for too long. We need to go up. If we do not do that the team has failed to achieve what it needs to do.RonnieMoore said:

Right, Charlton haven't received another bid from Huddersfield, and have gone quiet at the moment, that isn't to say they won't come back in.. I would say May will be at Charlton first day of training, but if he is still in a Charlton Shirt come the end of the window is another matter.
Mitchell should be announced today or tomorrow at some point.
Ness might be going for a fee.
55 -
Ness going for a fee would make sense , just feel like he needs a fresh start and regular football. Would think he'd stay at this level too.6
-
Interesting, I didn’t really see a place for Ness in back three so it was a bit surprising we decided to keep him, but that would explain why.
Should mean we intend to sign another CB as well as Mitchell. I’m not convinced we’ve signed Edwards with the intention of regularly playing him at CB.0 -
Getting a fee for Ness would probably be the best result, he's not really kicked on and sadly I don't think he's going to reach the level we're aspiring to get to. He might well follow the route of Terrell Thomas, a solid enough career in L2/L1 but never realistically breaking into the upper leagues.0
