I remember that in the old days, senior players would occasionally skip a winter tour for family or burnout reasons1 -

Dont think thy did,but Archer had hardly played for 2 years,we had ample cover for Pope, and Ali did great .Lyons had played around 100 consecutive test matches.1 -
Do Sky even send anyone over for an overseas tour anymore? He can spend the time in Isleworth and then do the home tests next summer1

No guarantee Sky will even have the India series either. The BCCI usually ask for the earth0

killerandflash said:Looking at the back pages of the newspapers, it's all about Broad, with Woakes who really was the star of yesterday, completely ignored.
But then I suspect that Woakes quite likes it that way.
The fact that the Aussie were pleased that Woakes didn't play in the first two tests with the Duke ball in his hand tells you everything.
Stats may not always tell the whole truth but the wicket taking stats are close.

Dan Norcross' predicted squad for the next home ashes:
Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley and Tawanda Muyeye as the opening options, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith - that feels like a strong seven batters.
James Rew is our wicketkeeper. We've recalled Sam Curran. Our spinners are Rehan Ahmed and Jack Carson.
Our fast bowlers Sam Cook, Ollie Robinson, Matt Potts, Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue.
I've chosen our captain, it's Ollie Pope. That is our 16.
One player completely missing from their thoughts was Olly Stone, who sadly barely seems capable of playing a game before breaking down.
Archer and Stone have so much talent but seemed to stay as fit as Chuks Aneke.
I find it sad for all three guys and their careers.0 - Sponsored links:

Don't think there would be much argument on that beyond Bairstow/Carey.0
-
Was surprised the Aussies never used Michael Neser given his excellent record in England with bat and ball.1

Bairstow averaged over 18 more than Carey and took 1 more catch.0

Carey, and The Aussies didn’t have a sniff after the Bairstow stumping at Lords. Momentum changer. Carey can be blamed for that too.2

Am trying to be objective (as always) and not anti- Bairstow but I agree he got better as probably lacked match time. It was an horrific leg break (sorry couldn't resist the wording) that mostly occurs as a result of a motorcycle crash not a golfing 'incident'0 -
Favourite stat from the series: Australia used eleven bowlers, only two of whom conceded fewer than four per over. Labuschagne and Smith.3

England were just miles better on and off the pitch after Lords. To not play a spinner at OT? Frazzled.0
-
The trying to get the ball changed every so often by both teams was ridiculous in this series , the fact the neutral umpires chose what they did is not Englands fault but of course they benefitted the next day with how it moved

Alex Hales has retired from international cricket. I once walked past him at Lord's, he's 6'5!1 -
Siri, tell me three things about Alex Hales in order from least to most surprisingkillerandflash said:
