I hope the Aussies win as it might prove that our approach to test cricket, while entertaining, is not suitable win a 5 day test match
Apart from the last one and a half Test matches you mean?

Sime say the Bazball believers are weird. Actively hoping England lose an Ashes Test to prove yourself right is next level though…
perhaps you didn't realise that Aussie have retained the Ashes, if our batsmen had not thrown the bat so much in the earlier tests then we would have won the ashes. The Aussies play a better test match game although we play more entertaining cricket.
I would rather we won the Ashes, we didn't this is a dead game and really the result is immaterial.
You said the England approach is not suitable to win five day Test matches - they’ve won 12 of 17 under Stokes and it most likely would’ve been 13 of 17 without the Manchester weather.

If you want to go scorched earth because the Aussies won a couple of close games, I suppose you’re welcome to that.
agreed but if I remember we beat SA and NZ both of whom were not at their strongest unlike Oz and India
Bazball wasn't going to work against New Zealand - they were World Test champions.
Then it wasn't going to work against India.
Then South Africa were going to sus it out.
There was no way it would work in Pakistan, not on those wickets.
New Zealand in New Zealand were going to turn the tables on us.
Ireland? We'll they shouldn't be playing Test cricket. They still have to take their kits home and wash them and make their own teas.
Australia, they are now World Test champions...they'll show that Bazball just isn't cricket.

A couple of years ago 250 runs would probably been at close of play on day one.
Now despite a poor over rate England bring up 250 in two sessions.
Have to admit it's very entertaining.

Ultra edge sounds an inside edge. Woakes survives

Why did Woakes debate reviewing that? Not only did he smack it but we had 3 reviews anyway!!! Perhaps he wanted to save them all for Broad?

he clearly didn't realise he'd hit it but as you say, eight down and three reviews left you just do it anyway!

Murphy looks like one of them geek/step son-types who lose their virginity to an older woman, likely step mum... if you know what I mean...

But not Woakes, as he's too much of a nice person to automatically use a review himself!

This is like village green cricket. Spinner comes on & batsmen step away to slog him for 6. Problem is they just leave the stumps out in the open & get clean bowled.

How many is that now.....3 ?

    Wickets: umpire’s call.

Aussies had all gone back to their fielding positions for the next over… didn’t have much hope

Fairly even after our 1st innings. I think both teams will be happy enough. Hopefully we can make the most of the conditions and get a decent amount of wickets before close of play.

England should be able to get 25 overs at Australia before the close, providing the weather doesn’t get in the way.

If Jimmy can't do it in these conditions then I think even CAFC4 ever will have to admit he's done!

Still have it 55:45 Australia. Hopefully we can do some damage in good bowling conditions.
