Smith gone a short one now too. After Head almost went last ball.

But the short ball is easy to play eh

really think we might be seeing anderson's last series. Not got anywhere near the movement he usually gets, just dropped a sitter too.

Hoping to jinx it but they don't even look like getting out. Toothless attack.
Can you post this another couple of times please?

    What was in those drinks?

An hour of nothing but easy to play bouncers and short stuff and  now three wickets in quick succession all to short deliveries.

Australia the last seven overs against short stuff: 14-3

And Head got out trying to defend! If only he’d tried to be brainless instead…

So we start 5 minutes late and add 5 minutes to the end of the day.  Great.

Shouldn't the breaks be moved back as well?  The evening session is now going to be 2:30 long and that's not making up all the lost overs from yesterday.
They have, as lunch is now 1:20
Excellent, ESPN were saying lunch and tea were still at the same time.

@suzisausage yet they could start at 10.30 when Hollyoakes needed to be on at 6.30.  Obviously wouldn't apply today but just extending the evening session every time isn't a great solution is it?
I don’t they would ever start earlier in England.  Many reasons. Not just Hollyoaks. Staff at ground, security, police etc. there is a tight ‘pre match schedule’ to follow and I’m not sure it can be flexed. Plus it was raining at 10.30 this morning anyway.

They started 30 mins earlier at a test in St Lucia once I think when we were there. Defo more lax though. Not many police or security.

    Lunch 222-5, lead of 313

England will be looking for four wickets post lunch, assuming Lyon can’t come back out to bat.

Word is Lyon won't bat - there are no runners allowed these days in international cricket. From the TV pictures he was using crutches.

I can't see the Aussies risking making his injury worse while there's a possibility that he'll be back for the fourth or fifth Tests and especially not for a very few runs.

Lyon was the pioneer of hooking into fielder's hands on the boundary, then England copied him!

10 overs bowled since lunch. New ball not taken. 16 runs scored but no further wickets yet.

England continuing with the short stuff. Cam Green just took one on the helmet (ooh err).

Test meandering at the moment. The draw is coming more into it the rate it's going. Aussies still massive favourites.

Not sure what the tactics are at the moment.

17 runs from 13 overs this session. England going to continue with this until the Aussie pair get bored or are told to force the scoring rate.

It’s also somewhat amusing to listen to Mark Taylor moaning because we won’t bowl at them the way they want it.

And it works. Green holes out in the deep off Robinson.

    239-6, lead of 330

Australia 52-5 since England went short

The strategy is to bowl dry and force a mistake and it has worked - Green out hooking.

England won several Tests from this position last year - even chasing down nearly 400 v India (different wicket/ground admittedly). Australia are in a strong position but want every run they can especially as they are without Lyon's bowling on a four/five day wicket.

I can see the tailenders teeing off now.

They will want 350+.  Befire play started 400 + would have been the target I would have thought

Triple Nelson lead and one wicket left...

    Assuming Lyon doesn't bat.
