How dark is it @killerandflash ?
Gloomy. And it had been raining for a couple  of minutes before they went off
They have to be back out by 6.00pm

Hopefully the rain will save us going 0-2 down.

Dont think there will be enough rain around to bring a draw into play, although this delay has slowed down their declaration.

Can see the Aussies getting a 350+ run lead & us batting before tea tomorrow. Will have 4 and a bit sessions to get 350/400.

I know it's looking far too far ahead, but I think if they set us 400 to win in four sessions and they failed to get a wicket by the end of the day, Sunday could be a very memorable day's cricket.

So for the second time this series, yours truly has seen a day finish early due to rain!

Why is Pope on the field if he can't throw?
It's Bazball, we must stay positive.
Keep him on until he's even more seriously injured.
    Don't show any weakness.

I predicted 1-4 to the Aussies.
I thought we might win the last Test, when they've mentally packed their bags for home.
Bazball is The Emperor's New Clothes and nearly everyone can now see it.
We gifted them the 1st Test and have almost certainly gifted them the 2nd.
Positivity does not have to mean stupidity.
It's too stupid for words that we kept skying the ball with so many fielders in place waiting.
Rank amateurish. The Aussies must be absolutely delighted. Lyon unable to bowl and we didn't even try to tire their bowlers.

I don't like Pietersen much as a bloke but he does have some good insights.

This is the time for those ‘just stop oil’ protesters to really step up. If the could get onto the pitch and fuck up the wicket so the test gets abandoned they might actually get some public support. It would after all be bloody unlucky to be caught behind the stumps twice by Bairstow with his keeping record

    George Davis is innocent.
I presume many of us remember that.
I think it was school holidays and my mum woke me saying the Test match at Headingley was postponed as protesters had poured oil over the wicket.

While I was aware of this, I don’t remember it as I was a baby at the time. But thanks Covered End you’ve done done something that doesn’t happen very often these days and made me feel young.

It's meant to be dry today, but still quite gloomy outside with a strong breeze.

So we start 5 minutes late and add 5 minutes to the end of the day.  Great.

Shouldn't the breaks be moved back as well?  The evening session is now going to be 2:30 long and that's not making up all the lost overs from yesterday.

Lunch is 1.20 and tea is 4.05 I think.
The last session is always the longest due to slow over rate. Regardless of rain delays.

Excellent, ESPN were saying lunch and tea were still at the same time.

@suzisausage yet they could start at 10.30 when Hollyoakes needed to be on at 6.30.  Obviously wouldn't apply today but just extending the evening session every time isn't a great solution is it?

80 minutes of leg theory finally pays off.

Khawaja has left a few runs out there though.
