At the end of the season I was hoping that we would keep both Hector and Sessengon. One down would be pleased if we get the second signed up at some point.2

Clutching at straws I know… :-)
Not a great show of faith is it. Last 2 signings, both who played here last season so "know the club", sign for just 12 months.
Sats so much about us as a club don't uiu think. Out of interest (and I generally don't kniw) have any other league 1 players this June signed on for just a year ??
Don't think I've ever seen that happen in the summer transfer window.

Now we know why the budget was fixed. We are paying the same players the same money as last season
Hector will have to be a f*** more fitter to make a dent in that.
Yet some people are jumping for joy we have the same defenders as last season
Christ how deluded some people can be, and how many straws can you clutch at.
So naturally he will start next season a lot fitter than when he joined us.4 -
golfaddick said:We are a laughing stock of a club. Players that have played here before only want to sign for a year.
Are we supposed to be happy with that ?? We'll be in the same position this time next year - players out of contract & struggling to build a decent squad.
Oh well, doesn't take much to keep you lot happy.22 -
Hector is an excellent signing.3

Quality signing.
Aside from his class and ability it’s heartening that players clearly like and respect Dean Holden.5 -
Very surprised Hector signed this early in the window. He was asking for decent money. Signing of intent that’s for sure. Class act

A good signing - we have six weeks to the first league game so he has plenty of time to get fit and have a proper pre-season, last season he looked a bit knackered by the season end, unsurprising since he missed the first half of the season and had hardly played first team football for a couple of years prior to that.
He brings a bit of character and that he took a few weeks to sign on suggests he was possibly talking to one or two other clubs.
I hope he can pass on some experience to Lucas Ness.
We how have a defence for Welling: Egbo-Ness-Hector-Thomas. We just need a bit of depth...0 -

go into pre season with this squad isn't great but we have time.
go into the season with this squad and we will be looking over our shoulder.
even with this poor squad, we are still better than the promoted teams, port vale, Cambridge etc.
chill people, you will make yourselves ill.I've just received a message saying hector has signed. I'm not sure if it's been posted yet on here yet as this is the first message I've seen and read. In a space of an hour, our squad has been massively improved.
if we play 4 at the back, our centre backs are hector, ness, Thomas and either Mitchell or elewere (spelling). You believe that Carlisle centre backs options are better than that? How about Cambridge, how about orient?
a midfield 3 of Dobson, frazer and mcgrandles is a good league 1 trio. Not saying it's good enough for promotion but definitely better than the 4 promoted teams can put out.
if you honestly believe Carlisle are stronger than us then I see your wow and raise you with a double wow.2 -

There's a lifer behind it with their own/real account, too
Somehow gets kicks out of posting in a contrarian manner.
Once you've seen through it the annoyance stops and it all seems a bit pathetic and childish4 -

000__Jaaaaay__000 said:Never understand the meltdown people have when we ‘miss out’ on a player we were never in for
That was a player that is a top player in the league, who was available and we could have got and it looks like may go to a team in the league below. This is an occasion where people are in their rights to meltdown.
It's the same old window, so far, a centre back no one wants, a centre back who has signed an extension after probably being rejected by most championship clubs or league 1 not willing to pay more and a goalkeeper who has about 50 senior appearances at the age of 26, most of which were at non league clubs.
I actually find Golfies post refreshing on this occasion cause he is right.8 -
It reads as though some didn't want Hector to stay? Did they complain when he was offered new terms? If not, then why criticise those bigging him up and taking it as good news? I don't mind admitting I thought there was very little chance he'd be here next season from what I'd seen of him, so I'm delighted.
If the argument is the defence is porous, perhaps he wasn't the weakest link in it and others should go. One or two have and others will either go or be sent out on loan, so just maybe there are some at the Club who understand what's required on the playing side.
If we were to get promoted, then we can always offer improved terms next summer and let him consider his opinions then. Of course, we might lose him for a fee in January if an offer we can't refuse comes in, but for now, what's not to like?
Whether others 'don't want him' is completely irrelevant because we do and know he can do a good job for us.5 -
Encouraging interview with Hector.
’We didn’t have the team last season but he’s (Holden) going to build a team to meet that objective (promotion)’
Presumably Hector’s decision to sign early is partly based on assurances that we’re going to have a go this year. Let’s hope he and Holden haven’t been sold any flannel by the new owners, and Holden is actually given the resources and freedom to build a promotion-winning squad.11 -
Hector is an excellent addition, I have no qualms really about a one year deal - gives both parties the flexibility that if we got promoted to turn that maybe into a 2yr extension or something.
As for what's next , from what's being linked with El Mizouni it's clear we want a box to box energetic midfielder to complement Dobbo and Fraser , and obviously we badly need to address the fullback positions - whether that's another move for Tayo Edun or not obviously remains to be seen. Would be surprised if we're signing anyone on loan yet purely because clubs won't be making decisions on that kind of thing this early unless it's a U23 player from a Prem side.
