Just been to a garden center to pick a few things up and there are loads of people with dogs both in the center and the restaurant, why?

All I could hear was people yelling at their dogs because they were pissing over the plants or begging for food on the adjacent table in the restaurant, two women had tiny little dogs in pouches strapped to their fronts, WTF!!

All the dogs looked fed up and stressed so leave them at home when you pop to the shops, no harm will come to them. 

It may be that I’m already out and that it’s more of a hassle going back home to drop him off and then going out again. Plus I would suggest if one’s an animal lover then I like taking my dog with me. Life is so much better with animals in my life and perhaps that’s true of other animal lovers?

Being an adult. So far today I've had to remove a dead.bird from the living room and then unblock the toilet (before anyone asks, I didn't flush the bird down the toilet - just ask the neighbours who saw an angry man in a dressing gown empty a dustpan into the wheelie bin in the pissing rain shouting "that fucking cat")

On Friday we missed our flight to the UK, thanks to striking passport control men meaning a three hour queue to get through. Then, after getting to the gate at 12.09 (24 minutes after the plane was supposed to have taken off) to see the plane sitting there, and having a text from Ryan Air saying the take off was delayed to 12.59, they refused to let us on as the gate was "closed". We were then expected to get back in the arrivals queue, which would have been at least another three hours (had my wife not had a panic attack, so a policeman took us through straightaway - she is okay now), to collect our bags and then go join to the queue at Ryan Air's desk to re-arrange flights. There were no flights available until Sunday night, and as we were leaving Cambridge on Monday, there was no point in going to Stanstead, so we re-booked another airline for tomorrow into Gatwick. Out of pocket for flight (no chance of getting owt out of Ryan Air, let's be honest - they will claim it isn't their fault, and to a certain extent, it isn't) train to Cambridge, train from Cambridge to Brighton and three nights in a hotel. Oh and we can't collect a couple of items from M&S in Cambridge, and they can't transfer the collection point to anywhere else because their system wont allow it. Sale goods, so there are no more left. Unless we are really, really lucky and can catch those particular goods the moment they go back on line, we are not going to get them at all.   

While we are away we are having the bathroom re-furbished, and our builder has already ripped out the bath and sink by the time we get back. Luckily he is a mate, and he and his wife have put us up for the weekend. 

Yesterday I go to get a new mobile phone, as the old one will only charge if you angle it at 45% and put brick on the charging lead... Search around the shops and find an iPhone 14 for €925, I ask if he will transfer data - yes - so we try to buy one. The guy comes out with one, goes to ring it through - €1169. Whoa there, we want the €925 one mate, he looks puzzled so I show him it on the display. He goes to the stock room - no stock. We go outside and check their on-line availability, they can deliver tomorrow, we go back to the shop, say to the lad can you order in for tomorrow? Yes we will pay now. He goes on line, can't find the one we want and offers us one for €1139. Forget it mate.

So we go to another shop where it's €30 dearer, when we ask if they can transfer data, they want another €20. I am spending nearly a grand on a phone, and to help a tech-ignorant customer you want another €20? It's an extra service so we have to charge you €20. Now, in fairness, I recognise it is a service, but I don't want to pay it, so are you going to let me walk out of the shop, with almost a grand I want to spend for the sake of €20? Yeah...

We go to another branch of the original shop, just in case they have stock (their online checker says no they don't). They do! Great - I'll have that, (Do you want insurance?) can you transfer data (Do you want insurance?), yes for €11. Okay, bite the bullet, as I am getting it for €925 rather than €955. So he starts setting it up (Do you want insurance?), gets to the bit where you sign up for Apple id, oh - there's a problem at their end, you'll have to do it yourself later. Okay, not your fault mate, will do. You need a new plug for the charging lead by the way, your old one won't fit (By the way, do you want insurance?), Apple have changed everything and don't include it in the pack. WHAT? They are selling me a phone for €925, THAT I CAN'T FUCKING CHARGE!!! 

Okay - got to have it, there you go, another €20. Great. Phone sorted. (Are you sure you don't want insurance?)

Get home (well, back to our builder's house) open phone, go to contacts. Fuck all there, check the rest of the phone, no data transferred at all. 

So - we'll go back today. 

If you hear of a "Falling Down" type incident on the Portuguese coast, you'll know what happened.

@Algarveaddick Re mobile not charging. Have you cleared the charging port out? I had a similar problem where the charging lead wouldn't stay in. Literally had to stand there, pushing lead in phone for it to register. I got a needle and a flattened tooth pick (used a Stanley to whittle it flat) and CAREFULLY cleared out a load of fluff and crap that had gummed the port up. Plugged it back in and it charged treat

Second that. An Apple Store did that for me even though out of warranty. 

Amazed how much collects. Obviously, the more you push the plug in, the more compact it becomes

Cheers for the tip mate, I'll give it a try. 

The shop sorted the new phone BTW, they had only charged me for setting up not transferring data, but admitted that they remembered I had asked for data transfer and it was their mistake, so they did it for the same price. Fair play to 'em.
