I am absolutely furious. Proof the BBC are completely under the Tories' thumb.

Tried posting some witty GIF of a bloke eating popcorn as if he’s expecting a load of drama to unfold, but my fat fingers can’t seem to sort it.

Have they been sacked?0

Somebody will soon say this thread should be on the House of Commoners thread.3
-
I would hope with Lineker 'stepping back' that Match of the Day will have more football and less/no punditry.8
-
For anyone who doesn't know why Attenborough has been mentioned in the thread title it is because of the following.
I've been looking forward to watching this series because it will highlight what wonderful wildlife we have in the British Isles, however we are one of the most nature depleted countries in the world and I had hoped that this programme would highlight the harm that is being done to our wildlife. It seems that one of the episodes will not be broadcast on the main BBC channel as it may upset a few farmers and right wing politicians.

Sky are saying that the BBC have, effectively, lied in saying that Lineker "has agreed to step down from presenting" and that he has, in fast, been taken off air by them because he has refused to apologise for his Tweets.3
-
The BBC believe their impartiality is in doubt and has had to make the decision to suspend Gary Lineker effectively clearing up any doubt at all.32

Good on Lineker, he has absolutely nothing to apologise for. Like Foxy, I’m furious about this.Lineker hasn’t criticised the racist policy, he’s just likened the rhetoric around it to Nazi Germany. And how do they react? By banning free speech. Nice one. I thought it was the left that were supposed to be snowflakes?
As for Attenborough, I’m not quite sure why climate change is political. It’s a fact.
What’s a bigger display of impartiality, a tweet sent by someone who isn’t even employed by the BBC or the BBC chairman donating money to the Tories?44 -

Utter f*cking disgrace and the rump of the population that still support them can go f*ck themselves.64

Ian Wright has come out in solidarity refused to do MOTD tomorrow. Good for him.20

We can only hope now that ALL the pundits on MOTD do likewise. How embarrassing would that be!6

And has tweeted that too. Presumably he will now be banned from working on MOTD too!Addick Addict said:Ian Wright has come out in solidarity refused to do MOTD tomorrow. Good for him.

Blimey! How many times did he tweet that?5

Just don’t understand it. He has to be impartial while doing his job only. What he posts on his personal social media is surely for him to decide? (Unless he’s being abusive etc.)14
-
The Lineker thing is a terrible decision, the Attenborough one is political censorship from a supposedly impartial organisation, and is frankly disgraceful. How are nature and the planet appropriate for censorship?15
-
Braverman has apparently released a statement welcoming this news and cited Lineker's appalling disciplinary record as a player
Update - that was never sent by Braverman but was sent by someone who hacked her account.7 -
Cheered me up no end about that c--t Lineker, needs to engage his brain before stupid comments.
Didn't know anything about Attenborough, but he seems a decent bloke, unlike the crisp salesman!14 -
Really is a farce. Amazing Motd is now embroiled in the latest culture war being stoked by the Tory party3

It is disgusting, it is the job of the BBC to highlight how Climate Change is killing our wildlife, not hide it for fear of upsetting a few climate deniers.Jonniesta said:The Lineker thing is a terrible decision, the Attenborough one is political censorship from a supposedly impartial organisation, and is frankly disgraceful. The comments he made have been twisted by the right wing press. Everything that Lineker tweeted is true.Silverdreammachine said:Cheered me up no end about that c--t Lineker, needs to engage his brain before stupid comments.

Boycott it3

Total support of Lineker and the polite way he conducts himself. Andrew Neil was under the same rules and regularly made his politics known and never got touched by press or BBC. This does look like the Chairman and others at the head of BBC have a hand in this. I hope this is the straw that breaks the BBC camels back. Something has to give as the tweet is factually correct.9
