so the welsh fan wearing said bucket hat has paid to travel to qatar, paid ticket money to go to a stadium in qatar, bought food and drink in qatar.
as i said earlier i have 0 interest in visiting the place as i dont agree with there laws and practices and think they are backwards. i dont agree with the burkha in england as we arent a sharia country - but then im labelled racist?.
Bucket hats are now 'provocative' and deserving of bans.
i dont oppose protests at all unless its some cnut blocking the m25 - but playing look how bad qatar is its a sharia state country where its quite clearly illegal to promote or be homosexual - wearing a rainbow that is synonymous with the LGBTQ+ community is going to cause offence/issues to the natives of qatar who likely believe in these views, the authorities will also act.
‘Everyone will be welcome to Qatar in 2022, regardless of their race, background, religion, gender, sexual orientation or nationality.’
And FIFA said:
‘Based on our engagement with the relevant Qatari authorities, and following existing government guarantees, and the event-specific legislation, as well as our experience of hosting other events in Qatar, Fifa is confident that persons identifying as LGBTIQ+ will not face any repercussions…’4 -

"You are welcome and free to identify as you wish, just please don't dress, act, speak or exist."
We are simply holding a mirror up to how ridiculous the FIFA claim of an 'inclusive' World Cup this would be.
Has it changed Qatar attitudes like they promised? Or has it simply meant that a section of society needs to forget they exist for a month while a few people line their pockets?10 -

I'm stating that in Qatar ( for the 6th time ) promoting a rainbow type design that is synonymous with the LGBT community is going to cause problems.0 -
Genuinely just asking - is it still the case that when western women go on holiday to some Middle Eastern countries, they're required to cover shoulders and even their hair / heads, so as not to offend the locals?
If that is still the case, do women go there snd deliberately flout the local "rules", or is it largely accepted?
Be interested to know how strict it is and how it's policed

Not say ing I agree with it, but that's just how it is in Qatar and emphasises the fur lined, ocean going, fark up, FIFA made awarding the WC to them in the first place. And how the rest of the sat back for over 10 years and said and done nothing.

I and the people I'm with will always respect the protocols of where we go.
If you don't want to respect their protocols then don't go.
If you want to go and deliberately flout their protocols then you will have to deal with whatever action they take.4 -

"Last week Gerdine Lindhout, Fifa’s head of experiential marketing and promotion, had promised that LGBTQ+ fans would be safe.
Asked what her message would be to those wanting to bring rainbow flags into the fan festival, she smiled. “Go for it,” she said. “This event is all about celebration.”"

Denmark have revealed they are ready to discuss a blanket withdrawal from FIFA alongside other UEFA nations amid the ongoing row over the #OneLove armbands.
“On November 21, England asked for an emergency meeting with FIFA, who came to the English hotel,” Jensen revealed. “FIFA said it would at least give a yellow card.
“There has been discussion about whether there is a legal basis for giving a yellow card, but there is. The penalty could have been a yellow card, that the captain had not come on the pitch or that he was given a ban.”
The DBU delegation revealed the “anger” this has caused, and stated they would not formally support current president Gianni Infantino in his reelection bid. Infantino is standing unopposed.
“There are presidential elections in FIFA. There are 211 countries in FIFA and I understand that the current president has statements of support from 207 countries,” said DBU chairman Jesper Moller. “Denmark is not among those countries. And we’re not going to be either.”
Moller also revealed that Denmark was considering leaving FIFA and were willing to discuss this with all 55 member states of the organisation.

The German football federation is investigating whether it is legal for Fifa to threaten players with sanction for wearing the OneLove armband at the World Cup in Qatar.

As Ian Wright and Roy Keane perfectly summarised it...do the protest and face the consequences - don't bottle it in the face of yellow cards and sanctions and then talk of legal action and withdrawal from FIFA when the moment has passed.
Every player could have worn an armband and got booked and that would have been powerful. The whole "oh no we can't do it in case the big bad FIFA punish us" shows how much lip service and virtue signalling it all was.
No need for pointless rainbow flags and rainbow laces in the UK herein as the time was here and now and the countries that supposedly espouses such alliance to LGBT have bottled it when it would have actually meant something.
No one will give a shit about some future court cases. The time to stand up was now if it is something they supposedly feel so strongly about beyond mere virtue signalling lip service.
Same as McDonald's, coca cola, Hyundai and any other corporation that are advertising have no business putting their poxy corporate flags up on Gay pride month on LinkedIn etc next month when the real time to do so is in Qatar.
All for effect with no real substance.
The huge majority of people in England and the west don't need lecturing about LGBT rights and we have legislation to protect and enforce them. It's seemingly prohibited to wear a rainbow bucket hat in Qatar and criminal to be homosexual ffs.
Virtue signalling spineless corporate bottle jobs which seems to apply to a significant majority of this sort of stuff these days.
Pick on the soft target, path of least resistance and least necessity i.e. the West and shit it/ meekly shy away/ turn a blind eye when it comes to challenging the real areas of the world that need addressing.5 -
I think Gary Neville suggested that Southgate wore the armband. Would it matter if he got booked? Or Steve Holland?2

Hornchurch said:I think Gary Neville suggested that Southgate wore the armband. Would it matter if he got booked? Or Steve Holland?
They should all wear it. We care passionately about rights but wont risk a yellow card? Players get booked for taking shirts off celebrating goals but won't risk a card or sanctions for making a huge political point on the biggest world stage possible?
Either go all in or don't pay it mere lip service. It's pretentious. Who gives a toss if Harry Kane wears rainbow laces v Aston Villa next year now. It's meaningless and vapid.

Put an armband on. All of this halfway house (our hands are tied) is pathetic. They're pampered multi-millionaires and FIFA are not ISIS ffs.
Hardly standing in front of the tank in Tiananmen square is it.
Utter spinelessness. Either don't do anything at all but this halfway measley mouthed gesture is weak as piss.

Surely one player is going to show a backbone at some stage and wear the arm band?2
