Would be an incredible signing but I can’t see him dropping to league 1 or to our budget unfortunatelycafcfan1990 said:The CB we should be looking at (albeit unlikely) is Yoann Barbet. Left-footed, can also play LB. For those concerned about fitness, in the 20/21 season he played every single minute of the league campaign. Don't think QPR wanted to get rid of him so it is audacious but he's lived in London for the last 7 years so worth a look.0 -
Can Bonne play centre back?
I reckon he could cover Stockley and Innis (but not both at the same time, obviously)1 -
Says a lot when @BarnsleyFC aren’t willing to activate a release clause when we are so desperate for firepower. “Judge us by our actions” or lack thereofEvery fan wants the same and moans the same lol 😂0

We don't need another lump like Bonne up front, we need a mobile forward like Taylor (but not him)4

He could if he was quick enough.Henry Irving said:Can Bonne play centre back?

How would people react if Macauley Bonne fired us to promotion and then peeled off a mask to reveal that he was Lyle Taylor?16

£300k for Asante? Suggests we aren’t in for him at that price then, if we were we could have activated it in June.RonnieMoore said:Says a lot when @BarnsleyFC aren’t willing to activate a release clause when we are so desperate for firepower. “Judge us by our actions” or lack thereofEvery fan wants the same and moans the same lol 😂0 -
Bonne is mobile, he doesn’t perfectly fit the system but we can’t be too picky at this level and he’s a decent all-round striker which is what we need. His link up play and passing isn’t quite good enough but he’s more mobile and good at pressing. He was dreadful against us in the cup recently but I’m sure given a few more minutes he’d get back to his old self. His style is a lot closer to Taylor (but not as good) than it is to StockleySouthbank said:We don't need another lump like Bonne up front, we need a mobile forward like Taylor (but not him)I know it wouldn’t be a popular signing but he would definitely score more than Stockley in league 1 with this team. He got double figures in the championship for us and that was his first season playing above non-league level. When Taylor was injured he was sometimes playing up front on his own as well. I’d take him back and I bet whoever we do end up signing isn’t as good as Bonne1 -

I’d be very surprised that nobody noticed the skin tone of his arms and legs.Uboat said:How would people react if Macauley Bonne fired us to promotion and then peeled off a mask to reveal that he was Lyle Taylor?2 -
https://youtu.be/6uEHLZkNego Bonne’s highlights from 2019/20. It hasn’t worked out for him since but I think people forget how good he was for us pre-lockdown that season. Definitely wouldn’t describe him as a lump! He scored all types of goals including running in behind defencesSouthbank said:We don't need another lump like Bonne up front, we need a mobile forward like Taylor (but not him)

My issue with Bonne is people seem to be forgetting a key point. He’s absolutely shit56

Bonne is a pure finisher. We need someone who can hold the ball and make play. Absolute non-starter2

I personally think a finisher is exactly what we need, seen as Garnerball is about creating loads of chances.Leuth said:Bonne is a pure finisher. We need someone who can hold the ball and make play. Absolute non-starter2 -
It must surely have been said before, and I haven’t looked on the other thread so apologies, but a striker with all the attributes we want would cost £30 million.4

People are obsessed by ex-players.
We're not signing Taylor, we were never getting Naby Sarr, we shouldn't sign Bonne,
There's plenty of other fish in the sea, as it were.5 -

Bonne is absolutely pony..best bit of business we ever done selling him6

Didn't Bonne miss as many chances as he scored?? No-one was particularly bothered about him going at the time for that reason I think!Leuth said:Bonne is a pure finisher. We need someone who can hold the ball and make play. Absolute non-starter1 -
We need a finisher, who is quick, hard-working, has stamina and willingness to press high and ideally who is comfortable positionally and technically to switch position, or at least play, with the wide players up top.BR7_addick said:

That is a lot to ask of a league 1 (or PL/champ youth) forward.
When you're trying to live a possession/high press philosophy on a tight budget and in the 3rd tier, the number of players it's worth being interested in is not big.0 -
Yes was quite washington-like in that senseLonelyNorthernAddick said:

I don’t disagree (regarding what we need).ISawLeaburnScore said:

So did we let the wrong forward go then? Would many of been happier had Washington been given a new deal and Stockley went, I’m not sure this would have gone down well back in July.0 -
Definitely rather have Washington than Stockley now, though he’d probably still be finding it impossible to get the ball past the keeper.BR7_addick said:

We'd be in the bottom half right now if we had Washington up front on his own these first 6 games.7 -
Only “Now”, as you say, as much as we can’t see it now, there’s still a chance Stockley starts banging in goals again, 6 games of not scoring from open play is bad form, it doesn’t make you a bad player. But we do need a forward any way.EugenesAxe said:
